It’s award season, one of my favorite times of year! I love seeing celebs walking the red carpet dressed to the nines and looking oh-so glamorous. We’ve rounded up the best hair and beauty looks of the night and we’ll even show you how to get the looks at home!
Celebrity makeup artist, Pati Dubroff, gave Dakota Johnson a stunning makeup look focusing on her eyes to complement her deep blue sparkling Armani two piece.
Dubroff used PÜR’s Air Perfection CC Cushion Foundation to give Dakota’s complexion an even, but light finish. For her cheeks, she applied the NARS Ferver Dual Intensity Blush on the apples of her cheeks and Anastasia’s Glow Kit Starburst and Crushed Pearl to highlight her cheekbones.
To make Dakota’s eyes pop, Dubroff used a taupe grey shadow to contour the crease of her eye and under her lashline. She then added a pop of champagne shimmer, using the PÜR Eye Polish Pure Pigment Eye Primer + Top Coat in Satin on the center of her lid. She applied a smudge of PÜR’s Double Ego Dual Ended Eyeliner in Bora Bora from the outer corner to about halfway under her eye. She applied multiple coats of mascara to her upper and lower lashes to make her eyes really pop.
Dubroff finished off the look with her lips, applying the Kevyn Aucoin Lip Pencil in Minimal followed by the PÜR Lip Gloss Stick in Berry Pretty.
Sandra Bullock walked away as a winner. She is an expert at wearing this sleek straight hair and looked beautiful with slightly smoky eyes and a nude lip.
Julianne Hough walked the red carpet with her cast-mates of Grease Live and she sported a slick topknot hairstyle.
Actress Priyanka Chopra of Quantico dazzled in a Vera Wang dress with hair pulled up as well, a trend of the night.
TRESemmé Celebrity Stylist John D. opted for a fun, textured knot to avoid upstaging Lea Michele’s intricately beaded black Ellie Saab cocktail dress. “We wanted to stay away from overdoing this look, while keeping in mind the major storm that is currently covering Los Angeles, so we kept the overall vibe fresh and cool.”
- Prep clean, towel-dried hair by running a dollop TRESemmé Climate Control Mousse from roots to ends to add light hold and keep the elements out.
- Blow dry hair using a large round brush to help smooth lengths and give lift at the root.
- Gather hair at the back of the head and secure ponytail with an elastic, making sure that roots aren’t pulled back too tight. Then, split the ponytail into two sections and tie sections into loose knots. Wrap knots around ponytail to create an intricate bun and fasten all around with bobby pins.
- Finish the look by spraying TRESemmé Climate Control Hair Spray all over for a frizz-free, strong hold.
Other notable looks from the night were from the cast of Pretty Little Liars. All opting for pulled back hair.
Actress Megan Good looked stunning with side-swept loose locs and a beautiful green Alice + Olivia gown.
David Babaii, Brand Ambassador for ghd, North America created Kate Hudson‘s look. The inspiration: “I wanted hair to complement her chic rock and roll, 70’s style.”
“First, I dried Kate’s hair using the ghd air hairdryer and ghd ceramic vented radial brush size 3. I then parted the hair down the left side and divided into three sections: two in the front and one in the back. I smoothed hair with the new ghd platinum styler. I love this flat iron because it features ghd’s tri-zone technology, which allows me to style hair at the optimal temperature of 365 degrees to ensure styles last longer without causing extra damage. I next twisted her hair back into a low bun and pulled out a few loose pieces to create texture. Use bobby pins to secure the style.”
