Want to try something new this fall? How about adding some color to your hair… with chalk! Clairol Professional celebrity colorist Kiyah Wright took the Bronner Bros. International Hair Show by storm leading a seminar on Fall 2012 hair color trends, and the best techniques for coloring hair extensions and one’s natural hair to rock some vibrant color. The Fall 2012 hair color trend that took us by surprise was Chalking. To achieve the striking Chalking look, which may be a far departure from your natural hue, hair extensions are the best route as they won’t affect the integrity of the hair. But, the Chalking method can be applied to your natural hair without causing any damage. Kiyah Wright, whose celebrity clientele includes Ciara, Gabrielle Union and Jennifer Hudson, provides her top tips for achieving vibrant, healthy-looking hair while rocking the latest Chalking trend.

Chalking is an easy and fun way to experiment with bright hues! Decide where you want to place the color and in those sections, either you or your stylist can bleach the extensions to the lightest blonde using a Clairol Professional BW2 Powder Lightener ($21.99) over 40 volume. Once the extensions are bleached and the head is blow-dried, dampen those sections and roll sidewalk chalk in the desired hue up and down the hair. The color will transfer easily and won’t stain the hair. This is a great weekend look that washes out for the work week.
