I am a huge Game of Thrones fan. Not only do I stay glued to the TV for the plot twists, but I love seeing the beautiful hairstyles worn by the female cast. Per usual, Sunday night’s episode left us with more questions than answers. Where will Jon Snow go after leaving the Night’s Watch? What will happen to Rickon Stark now that he is Ramsay Bolton’s prisoner? And why doesn’t Drogon find his Mom, Daenerys Targaryen, and free her from the Dothrakis? We might not have the answers to these impending questions, but we’ll show you how to achieve the awesome braids and hairstyles we see every Sunday night. We asked Redken Artist Doug Treadway to provide step-by-steps using Redken so you can recreate your favorite GOT hairstyles at home.
Choose your allegiance, and favorite hairstyle, by recreating these Game of Thrones inspired looks.
Sansa Stark
- Starting at the crown area, split the hair into two sections to create a half up-half down look.
- Spray the roots with quick tease 15 backcombing finishing spray and apply a small amount of powder grip 03 mattifying hair powder to create grip at the roots and lock in backcombing.
- Backcomb the crown area of the hair to create fullness and body.
- Apply braid aid 03 braid defining lotion and create (2) three-strand braids, starting above the forehead.
- Wrap the braids around the backcombed section and secure with pins.
- For lasting hold, finish the look with forceful 23 super strength hairspray.
Daenerys Targaryen
- Spray iron shape 11 finishing thermal spray evenly onto the hair. Curl the hair in sections using a 1-inch curling iron.
- Take a section on either side of the temple area and apply braid aid 03 braid defining lotion. Create a three strand braid on either side. Secure the braids at the back of the head with an elastic.
- Below the braid on either side of the head, take a section above the ear and apply braid aid 03 braid defining lotion. Again, create a three-strand braid on either side.
- Secure braids at the back of the head with an elastic and massage the braids to expand them and make them bigger. Take a broach or ornamental jewelry and cover the elastic, securing all of the braids together.
- Finish the look with triple take 32 high-hold hairspray for long-lasting wear.
Cersei Lannister
- Spray iron shape 11 finishing thermal spray evenly onto the hair. Curl the hair in sections using a 1-inch curling iron.
- Take two sections on either side of the temple area and apply move ability 05 lightweight defining cream-paste. Twist each section and secure at the back of the head. Take the sections and rub in-between fingers to expand the twist.
- Grab two sections right above the ears (below your first twist) and apply move ability 05 lightweight defining cream-paste. Twist the sections and secure at the back of the head.
- Take the ends and work move ability 05 lightweight defining cream-paste through the ponytails and create a three-strand braid. Secure with an elastic.
- Wrap a small section of hair around the elastic for camouflage. Finish the look with triple take 32 high-hold hairspray.
