You can view the “Love Over Bias” film here:
- Michelle Kwan – 1998 & 2002 Olympian, two time Olympic medalist whose immigrant family faced economic hardships in supporting her Olympic Games dreams
- Gus Kenworthy – 2014 Olympic medalist and one of the first openly gay action sports athletes
- Elana Meyers Taylor – 2012 & 2014 Olympian, two time Olympic medalist who was one of the first women to pilot a mixed gender four-man bobsled and continues to defy both gender and racial stereotypes
- Aja Evans – 2014 Olympic medalist who defied the stereotypes of what she could accomplish based on her surroundings growing up in Chicago
- Kehri Jones – Olympic hopeful who never stopped achieving, even after being told what she could or couldn’t be based on her race
I had the opportunity to attend the event and meet some of the wonderful Olympians that inspired this campaign.
When interviewing these three athletes, all of them emphasized how important their family, friends, and especially their mothers were. This support was crucial to them achieving success. Their advice to young people is to fight for and focus on achieving your goals.
