Dear Diary,
I’ve never been a lipstick kind of gal. Sure, I’ve always loved marveling at the shiny, rich colors that fill these magical little tubes, but I’ve never been one to go gaga for it myself. I guess you could say I’ve always preferred glosses, but either way, when it comes to the makeup adorning my lips, I’ve always been rather low-maintenance.
But one thing’s for sure: I grew up around lipstick. My otherwise low-maintenance mother always made sure she swiped a bit of lipstick before leaving the house in the morning, and I guess I sort of built up a sophisticated association with the whole process. Nonetheless, I’ve always seemed to find something wrong with lipstick: too sticky, too drying, too easily faded. So I’ve never fully developed my own personal appreciation for the stuff. Until now. And soon you’ll see why.
Xoxo

Ok, so the last time I wrote in a diary was years and years ago, but I made an exception this time. You see, a little birdie recently told me that L’Oréal Paris had asked celebrity spokespeople to write about their experience with lipstick. So when I got approached to share my experience as well, and most specifically with the new L’Oréal Paris Infallible Le Rouge collection, I jumped at the chance.
Since I’ve never been a huge lipstick fan, I was ready to challenge my beliefs and my experience, and jump on the lipstick train. I took some of the pink lipsticks from the Infallible Le Rouge collection for a test drive, and let me tell you, I think I might have been converted.
What I love most about this lipstick is its light, moist feel. Unlike many other lipsticks that quickly dry out your lips, Infallible Le Rouge provides 10 hours of fresh, vibrant color while conditioning lips with Vitamin E and Ceramide 5. And when they say the color lasts, they mean business. Unlike many lipsticks that fade after an hour’s wear, this lipstick lasts.
I also have to admit: I think I’ve found the perfect pink (Perennial Pink). It’s truly a match made in heaven, ladies. Enduring Berry and Forever Fuchsia ere a few of my other favorite shades. But the collection doesn’t just include pinks, darlings, it features everything from reds pinks and plums to mauves, corals and browns, with 30 shades ($9.95 each) in all.
“Lipstick Diaries” Survey
In addition to the lipstick diaries L’Oréal is featuring on its Facebook page, the brand and the Harris Interactive also conducted a major “Lipstick Diaries” survey of nearly 2,300 men and women, asking them all about their experiences with lipstick. Here are some of the lipstick stats they discovered and that we’re loving here at BeautyStat:
- 75% of women say that lipstick helps improve their confidence
- 90% of women wear sultry lipstick hues for themselves, not for the men in their lives!
- 30% of men would rather wear lipstick for a day than gain 30 lbs
- 75% of women don’t mind when fellow lipstick-lovers pucker up to apply in public
