MARC JACOBS BEAUTY! I know. I could of wrote a completely better opening line, but I am just too excited to be reviewing some of the products from the New Marc Jacobs Beauty line.
This 120 product (16 innovative and color cosmetics; 4 chic luxurious brushes) line will be available on August 9th exclusively at Sephora and select Marc Jacobs stores.
When it comes to beauty, Marc redefines it by embracing everyone’s unique imperfections:
“I see beauty in many things and I am attracted to all sorts of imperfection, to style, to confidence or experimentation. It’s unexpected and surprises you.”
Marc has influenced his line of cosmetics with the spirit of “The Girl” and how her makeup ritual is about transforming herself into the person she wants to be:
“…It’s the idea of a young woman enjoying creating her look, getting ready for her night out, or her night after her night out.”
Read on to see some of the products featured in this latest and buzzed about collection:
Marc Jacobs Genius Gel Super-Charged Foundation ($48.00) — This foundation contains first-of-its-kind Buoyancy Gel Technology, providing a smooth texture that is very easy to blend.
Coconut water hydrates skin with buildable coverage in 16 shades. I swatched 64 Fawn Medium, a little dark for my skintone, but I have to say it blended out beautifully. It didn’t feel like gel on my skin, but left a semi-matte finish.
Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Lacquer ($18.00) — A nail polish in a bottle as cute, chic and oh-so-Marc as this is destined to have a unique formula as well. Unprecedented shine with a plasticized, wet-look finish mirrors thirty coats of lacquer!
Available in 24 shades, I painted my nails with 118 Oui! — a pearlescent, metallic purple-pink with impeccable shine. The cap comes off to reveal a grooved applicator with a nicely sized brush. The formula goes on clean and smooth with a quick dry time.
Marc Jacobs Style Eye-Con No. 3 Plush Eyeshadow ($42.00) in 112 The Mod is a richly pigmented three-shadow palette containing a satin white, sparkly black and taupe-y gray shade. I couldn’t believe at how heavily pigmented the shadows were — that black shade alone will be a great eyeliner!
Not to mention the beautiful gray shade that is a bit more neutral than the usual white-black-gray color palette you see from other brands. The eyeshadows have a smooth texture that are easy-to-blend and use with a brush or your fingers.
And can we talk about the packaging? Each shadow comes in a little nylon pouch with a sponge applicator. The pouch alone is so cute and small with a Marc Jacobs label sewn on the front.
I might just use this as my coin purse! Each palette shade is inspired by the spirit of “The Girl” with names like 110 the Shoe Gazer, 106 The Rebel, 104 The Punk, 102 The Ingenue and 108 The Glam.
Marc Jacobs Lash Lifter Gel Volume Mascara ($26.00) — A mascara that works like spandex? Lashes are lifted with this mascara’s E-Lashtic Lash Technology for lashes that are curved and lifted. Available in Blacquer (the Blackest Black), it offers an extreme wear that is flake-proof, run-proof, life-proof and washes off with warm water!
Before/After
Mascara Comparison:
Tarte Lights, Camera, Flashes Statement Mascara
Its dark, minimalist black and silver tube is durable and easy to pick out among your other makeup items. The triangle-shaped brush has soft, spacious bristles that hug each lash. One coat keeps lashes looking defined and polished, while a second (as seen in my Before/After photo above) adds more definition — I didn’t even use an eyelash curler!
Available August 9th, 2013 at Sephora and select Marc Jacobs stores. Find out more information about Marc Jacobs Beauty at www.marcjacobsbeauty.com.
