Bold, Bright and Neon. It seems as if those three words are all the rage this summer season. Everywhere you turn bright makeup looks are showcased in a wide variety of techniques, styles and, of course, colors.
I recently had the opportunity to try out the gorgeous HYPERCOLOR Brow & Lash Tint ($22.00) colors from Anastasia Beverly Hills. Their HYPERCOLOR collection sports very bold and bright neon-type shades to create daring looks that are made to literally stop traffic.
In the Pink
Electric Blue
Ultra Violet
This 2-in-1 product adds vivid color to your brows and even doubles as a curling mascara for very bright, “ultra-bright” lashes. The flake-proof, fast-drying formula boasts a film-forming polymer to define and hold the brow, and also curls lashes to sky-high limits while ultra-moisturizing panthenol conditions your brows and lashes for healthy shine.
Basically, while this bright color definitely makes a statement, it helps to keep your brows in place and in shape while curling your lashes.
The set comes with an awesome summertime bonus: each HYPERCOLOR Brow & Lash Tint includes a mini Lash Genius Waterproof Topcoat to seal in the pigment and make your brows budge-proof!
Now let’s get into my thoughts on the products itself…
PACKAGING: First of all, like all Anastasia Beverly Hills products, the packaging is sleek and definitely in-theme with the neon look they’re going for. The box itself is gorgeous with an iridescent/holographic design. I fell in love immediately with the box before opening up the package.
THE PRODUCT: The tints look like your average mascara tubes, with exception to their bright colors on the packaging. The spooley mascara brush for each is awesome — I am definitely going to be keeping the spooley to use with some of my other mascaras. It has a great twisted design that helps to curl your lashes.
The tints come in three different colors: In the Pink, Electric Blue and Ultra Violet. As mentioned, each brow/lash tint also includes the little mini Lash Genius Topcoat as well, which has its own little compartment in the box.
The Lash Genius has a similar brush/spooley design to assist with an easy application for curling the lashes. I have VERY short lashes and was completely amazed at how effortless it was to apply these tints. The actual brush/spooley is fairly large, so I kind of freaked out at first sight, but it turned out that it was super easy-to-apply; I didn’t have to fix mistakes afterwards, like I would have with other mascaras.
STAYING POWER: I will be honest, the colors freaked me out when I first saw them. I wondered if it would smudge just after application, but they did so well — I was certainly impressed.
Setting them in place and keeping them from moving is what the Lash Genius is for. If you are not a watery-eye gal like me, then I don’t think you’ll have much trouble with the lash/brow tints smearing, but my eyes tear often, so I did get a little smear of each color from time to time. But for the most part, they lasted all day.
When I applied the Lash Genius it didn’t move and stayed on until I removed my lash/brow tints later in the day/evening — definitely great for use on the brows because it just doesn’t budge.
PIGMENTATION: Oh, there is so much I can say about the pigmentation of each, but I’ll keep it to one word: AWESOME! The pigmentation of each lash/brow tint is great and shows up even on my dark lashes.
In the Pink is a bright neon pink that definitely stands out. My favorite place to use it is on my upper lashes: it’s bold and daring, and I love it. Electric Blue is also a neon blue — very bright and stands out very boldly on my lashes or brows. And, my favorite of them all, Ultra Violet is the most wearable out of all the colors.
It is no secret that I have a crush on the color purple… it’s my favorite color, but I LOVE how this particular tint goes so well with my eye color and complexion. I can use this as an everyday shade and still look put together, and a little bit bold, without looking too dramatic.
OVERALL OPINION AND THOUGHTS: Awesome! I have been mixing the colors to tone down some of the bold colors but still create a very striking appearance. Ultra Violet and In the Pink look so great blended or layered on top of one another. Just like other Anastasia products, the quality definitely holds true to the brand’s reputation, and I am loving how easy these tints are to use.
I have tried many other “colored mascaras” and I am very happy with the consistency and formulation of these. They are a little thicker than normal mascaras, which can be a challenge for some to work with – but it helps with the dramatic look you get after application.
Honey is wearing Ultra Violet on brows, a blend of Ultra Violet and In the Pink on upper lashes; Electric Blue on lower lashes
It did curl my lashes and the formulation helped to keep my lashes curled throughout the day. I really wish they had a wider range of colors. I think this would be a great addition to any makeup artist’s kit and definitely awesome for special effects makeup/dramatic looks.
What do you lovely ladies think of these brow/lash tints? Would you love to see other neon colors, like green or a lavender thrown in the mix?
