As soon as BeautyStat wrote about the new CC cream craze, Rachel K sent us over some amazing mineral based products from her line. I was so excited to try her CC creams and pressed powders. Rachel K first launched her line last April as the pioneer in CC creams. This improved formula (compared to BB creams) provides ten benefits in a single application including but not limited to superior coverage, brightening, anti-aging, moisturizing, whitening, collagen-enriching ingredients and more! Her line is ideal for sensitive and delicate skin with non-comedogenic ingredients that help calm stressed skin.
It took two years worth of ground-breaking research and testing in laboratories across the USA, Japan and Korea to make this state-of-the-art CC cream the ultimate blemish balm. I was given two types of Rachel K‘s CC cream to try: Mineral Color Control CC Cream in Neutral (pink tube) and Original (black tube). The tubes are very well packaged and contain English directions and ingredient lists. I first tried the Neutral CC cream and found it to be very similar to usual BB creams; it has the usual one-color-fits-all shade and applied it to my face. It had medium coverage, since it didn’t fully conceal all of my acne scars; I advise putting on a thin layer and letting it set like it says. If you still feel like you need more coverage use a concealer or powder to finish the job, because putting on too much of this CC cream will leave you looking ashy. If you have minor redness or discolorations, this cream will work wonders, but, if you are like me and have pesky acne scarring, you’ll need to apply a concealer or the Rachel K Mineral CC Pressed Powder on top (which worked wonderfully!).
I actually really liked the Original CC cream — I feel it performed better for my skin. It comes out very pink and is ideally a good base before powder or foundation. Neither of these CC creams left a heavy coating on my face — they just seeped into my skin beautifully. I liked not having to apply a heavy silicone-like primer to my face since this CC cream enhances my complexion with EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor), which is extremely beneficial to the skin’s cell growth, resulting in younger looking and healthy skin. Again, a thin layer of this works: it brightened up my skin incredibly and diffused the look of my acne scars on my cheeks.
I was really impressed with the Rachel K Mineral CC Pressed Powders. I was given the three shades to try: Fair, Medium and Deep. The packaging alone is gorgeous with the rhinestones imbedded into the front of the case. The face puff is hygienically stored in a plastic compartment that doesn’t touch the powder, which is found in most Asian powder compact products.
I can still get away with the highly pigmented Medium shade as my summer tan lingers on, but the Fair will come in handy once winter hits. Mind you, the Deep shade is really not at all that dark, but will suit olive complexions. It is a 4-in-1 makeup foundation, concealer, powder and SPF 15 product. I was so surprised at how well this pressed powder worked with the CC creams. It is infused with organic shea butter and vitamin E. When I swatched the full-coverage powder for the first time it felt velvety smooth without being too cakey or heavy like most facial powders. Once applied, you can hardly tell you have any face powder on at all! I absolutely loved this face powder and carry it around with me everywhere. No breakouts! No cakey look to the skin! No worries! It is ideal for all skin types whether you have dry, oily or sensitive skin.
Rachel K products aim to enhance your skin health, making it dewy and radiant. I just love wearing cosmetics that provide just as much benefits as skincare, so you don’t feel like you have take it off as soon as you come home. Rachel K was the brand that all the finalists used at the 2011 Miss Universe pageant, which can be seen on the shopping bag that was filled with my Rachel K products.
