Scarlett Johansson happens to be an alumni of my children’s school, and I just met her brother last year. Good looks run in the family, and I can easily see why she embodies the new Dolce & Gabanna Passion Eyes Mascara ($32.00).
Her eyes are a tool of seduction, carrying off the I’m-only-wearing-mascara look and still possessing that sensuality and confidence eyeliner emits. She is one seductive and sexy woman!
Noted fashion, beauty and celebrity photographer Tom Munro interpreted the passion of the new mascara in the Fall 2013 ad campaign that was shot in Taomina.
The campaign has Sicilian motifs: plates of succulent fruits lay before Scarlett, whom is seated on a bright terrace among flowers overlooking the beauty of the ancient town.
We shall focus first on the nature of the mascara, as it both curls and adds volume. The formula glides on effortlessly and creates a feminine curl that adds full volume. Pat McGrath helped develop this line, as she is the brand’s creative advisor.
Passion Eyes is available in 3 opulent shades, imparting beautiful and rich color to the lashes: Nero resembles volcanic ash; Terra is a dark, earthy brown and making its color debut is the first blue mascara shade for Dolce & Gabanna, Blu Indaco, which recalls the stunning waters of the Mediterranean.
I personally love wearing blue mascara, as it seems to bring out some green hues in my hazel/brown eyes.
The brush (as you can see in the picture above) is curved and molded to give you full, curled lashes. A thick center features bristles that were intentionally spaced close together, allowing for precision and control in application.

The special cut of the bristles (both long and short) mirror the natural form of the lashes, enabling them to coat and curl simultaneously.
I have been a fan of Pat‘s work for years. And I was taken back the moment I saw the ad campaign in one of my many magazines; I found Scarlett‘s eyes to be simply sultry and seductive… mesmerizing, in fact.
