If you’re a fan of quality products and adorable, chic Parisian design, you might want to check out Paul & Joe Beauté — the makeup and skincare line from Paul & Joe fashion designer Sophie Mechaly.
The 2013 Summer Collection features dual-ended eyeshadow, liner and lipgloss wands; summery, retro-colored nail polish shades; a divine-smelling hair and body mist accompanied by essential blotting papers and a smoothing base.
The Limited Edition Smoothing Base ($30.00) is a foundation primer with a pore-minimizing formula that instantly erases discoloration and dark spots. It is infused with apricot and white lily extract to supply moisture to skin; jojoba oil and orange flower water act as emollients so the base applies smoothly without feeling heavy on the skin.
I applied it mainly near my nose to smooth out any pores, concentrating on rough patches. It didn’t feel too much like silicone — the usual feel you get from primers. It acted as a nude base that blends well into all skintones. It kept my foundation in place and never felt like I had on an extra layer of makeup.
Creating eye-popping shades on your eyes is now easier than ever with the Limited Edition Eyeliner WP & Eye Crayon Duo ($25.00). I received the shade Cyprus (003), which is a earthy tone combo with a forest green liner and shimmery yellow-gold crayon.
The crayon can be worn as a highlighter or a smooth, glossy shadow. Water-resistant, the liner and eye crayon are packed with skin-smoothing and beneficial ingredients for the delicate eye area like grape seed oil and jojoba oil. Available in Saint Tropez (001), Fiji (002), Las Palmas (004) and Santorini (005). This might be the only thing you take on your next getaway!
A line of summertime nail polishes always gets me excited! Paul & Joe Beauté was inspired by the ‘60s with retro color renditions of orange, aqua, opal, blush and muted lavender. I tried Mauritius (034) , which is a sparkling sand-tone shade — the perfect nude for both manicures and pedicures.
Available in Rio (035), Bermuda (033), Caribbean (032) and Miami (031), the Limited Edition Nail Enamels ($14.00) contain ingredients that will moisturize and soften rough nails like pearl calc extract, chamomile extract and white lily extract.
A summer eye and lip look is sometimes best left sheer and light. The Limited Edition Eye Gloss & Lip Gloss Duo ($34.00) allows eyes to gleam with silky color, while lips are left with a sexy, glossy sheen due to olive oil and amino acids infused into the formula — moisturizing but not at all sticky.
In shade Nice (02), my punchy-pink lips were paired with a light purple shadow shade that had immense shimmer and shine. Paul & Joe Beauté Eye Glosses are great worn alone or as a base to create more depth, enhancing any eyeshadow shade.
Santa Monica (01) is a romantic rose tone duo; Monaco (03) adds a natural glow with sandy shades; Maui (04) adds some citrusy shine with bright and shimmery lemon and nectarine colors, while Bahamas (05) keeps things bright and easy with a neutral wash of white shimmer and light pink lips.
Don’t forget to dab away at any unwanted shine! The Blotting Papers ($5.00) are safely tucked away in this kitsch dolphin-printed design paper case. Dirt and oil is lifted away with these super-absorbent oil blotting papers. I may never want to use them up, due to the design alone!
Perfume can be too heavy for summer, but a hair and body mist might be just right! Limited Edition Fragrance Hair & Body Mist ($28.00) is fresh, fruity and floral! This fragrance doesn’t just add spicy and fruity notes of jasmine, neroli, lavender, lemon, amber and bergamot — it moisturizes skin and hair too with peppermint leaf extract and lavender water.
This fragrance leaves a lingering aroma on your hair and skin. So, when the wind sweeps your hair while you’re at the beach, or when you have the convertible top rolled down, and you get a whiff, it’ll be reminiscent of all the wonderful Paul & Joe Beauté products you have!
