Revlon‘s Global Artistic Director — and one of my favorite makeup artists — Gucci Westman pulled her inspiration from the crossroads where East meets West, and combined Asian grace with Western attitude while creating The Shanghai Collection for Revlon. I made many double-takes at my local drugstores while looking at Olivia Wilde, Emma Stone, etc., as Westman has transformed their looks on several ad campaigns.
I even picked up a pamphlet about Gucci Westman; I was so intrigued to know who was the MUA behind these new collections and advertisements. There was a picture of Gucci Westman on the pamphlet and then everything made sense to me. I also follow her on Twitter as she does sometimes share photo shoot snippets. I love her “eye” for color — this collection is simply beautiful! I can feel the mysteries of the Orient simply based on her color choices…
“This collection was inspired by the romantic films of China, where women adorn ultra-feminine wardrobes of vibrant high-collared cheongsam dresses with saturated colors,” explains Westman. “I traveled to China and was moved by the art, architecture and effortless beauty of the women. I loved the idea of easily incorporating the elegance and romance of Chinese beauty into a woman’s daily routine.”
