Rolando Santana

Rolando Santana‘s inspiration was the artwork of Mexican artist Gabriel Orozco. Romero used this inspiration to create a feminine look while including architectural elements; a woman warrior. Romero Jennings for MAC Cosmetics created a new take on the smoky eye, pushing the smokiness into the temple. The focus was the eyes and the eyebrows; the look tailored for each model. For the most part, the face was kept matte with the exception of a highlight above the cheeks. Concealer was used on the lips to keep a neutral lip.

“Rolando Santana‘s collection for A/W 2014 is pushing the boundaries of wearing and interpreting prints, textures and embellishments. Newly charged with mystery and sophistication.” For Rebecca Isa, Creative Director of Zoya, working with Rolando Santana was effortless. “Rolando’s vision was clear.” And that vision was to incorporate texture and contrast within the nail design. Opaque, sparkly and matte. Oh my! The colors chosen for the nails emulated the color palette of Rolando‘s Fall 2014 Collection: cream and black.

The inspiration for the collection was Hamlet; Gina Edwards for Morgan Taylor wanted to take the dark story and add a youthful twist. Edwards was influenced by the layering of fabric within the collection “lace, fun.” Edwards applied two coats of Seal the Deal, a beautiful, shimmery aubergine. The color is captivating when the light hits it, showing the shimmery reflections.
