The Look: 30’s and 40’s inspired
Jo Levy, National Makeup Director for Becca Cosmetics says that the look for Venexiana was inspired by the 30’s and 40’s, with a “subdued chic” look. The lashes are fierce and are double layered; the eyes really stand out and there’s a hint of lip gloss with really arched brows.
The makeup is definitely an “evening look,” says Jo, but she also advises to “keep in mind that the eyes are played up in the photography of that era.” Products used during the show include the Lost Weekend Palette, as well as the charcoal tones of the Prairie Moon Palette that launched during Fall 2010. The lips are dressed in the Lip and Cheek Cream in Petal and the Sheer Tint in Estella too.
The hair, done by Philip Pelusi for Tela Beauty Organics showcased a glam braid that was twisted into the back and the hair used plenty of shine. Pelusi tells us that all his products are had crafted in small batches and are made in the U.S. — which is something I always like to hear. One way to get the “pliable texture” perfect for braiding is to use the new Potion from the P2 Line which is weightless, greaseless and virtually eliminates frizz . The end result is a set of shiny haired ladies with elegant twisted braids — who needs a hat?!
