The last time I used any Avon product, I was 8-years-old, stuffing those mini lipstick samples in my pocket when my aunt (an Avon representative at the time) wasn’t looking. I thought they were adorable, and I remember clearly how badly I wanted to wear my red Avon lipstick outside to the park.
Flash forward a few years and I am back using Avon products, but this time I don’t have to steal them, haha! Most recently, their most talked about mascara will leave you in awe of its revolutionary brush. I was also introduced to their eyeshadows, lipstick and lipgloss, so this review was like a walk down memory lane.
The first-of-its-kind, Mega Effects Mascara ($10.00) comes with a brush unlike any other. It looks like a paint brush with WonderBrush bristles that comb through lashes easily for clump-free volume. Unlike other mascara wands, it works to fit the curve of your eyes and adds 40% more mascara to lashes for more volume.

The WonderBrush bends and adjusts to any angle in 12 different ways, so you can reach every lash. It definitely does take some getting used to, but I was surprised at how I was able to work my outer lashes, and apply an even amount of formula (available in Black-Brown and Black). The formula is a little wet, so make sure to let it dry completely.
Avon also introduces its New Ultra Color Lipstick ($7.00) with a lip-nourishing formula containing shea butter, omega oil, arctic berry and vitamin E. True Color Technology allows for vibrant, rich color. The clear window top lets you see the exact color you’re going to get — which is exactly the way it will appear on your lips. I saw a bright, ruby-red and that is exactly what I got!
Available in 3 finishes: satin, shimmer and soft matte, I tried Rich Ruby — the PERFECT shade of red for me. Even when I wiped it off my lips, it left a nice stain of color behind that brightened up my complexion. It applied evenly and ever-so-smoothly. My lips were moisturized and I couldn’t wait to reapply.
The True Color Technology and color payoff also applies to the brand’s New Ultra Glazewear Lip Gloss ($6.00). Palm Pink Beach is a a neutral pink color with the finest shimmers (you can’t even feel them). The gloss isn’t sticky and feels like a moisturizing lip treatment/oil rather than a usual, tacky gloss. Available in 3 finishes as well: cream, shimmer and sparkle, you’ll be crazy not to try more than one of these.
Long-wear color is what what you get with True Color Eyeshadow Quad ($7.00) is imprinted with numbered shadows to signify how to apply your colors from light to dark. The eyeshadows are silky in texture and apply with a medium wash of color to lids. Available in 14 palettes, Purple Pop is a nice compilation of pinky purples, which left my brown eyes dazzling.
I find it refreshing to find a palette that isn’t too pigmented, but allows you to play with sheer to medium washes of color, especially when you are prone to just wearing neutrals like browns. You can find all Avon products at shop.avon.com
