The Hunger Games drew me in at a moment’s notice — not only for the actors, but for the elaborate costumes, cinematography, and, most of all, its colorfully innovative beauty looks.
Cinna, with his perfectly placed gold eye liner, still has me searching for that precise metallic, sleek gold shade.
The rumor mill started when the costume team supposedly took Marchesa gowns straight from the runways for Jennifer Lawrence — and I started to see glimpses into what was to be the second movie, Catching Fire, in this incredible trilogy.
I saw some image previews of the costumes: Wings were spread from one of her dresses, another looked as if it was all on fire and a third looked like a bridal look, which I guess was one from Marchesa; it was a stunningly intricate and flowing gown with lots of layers and intricate beading.
What amazes me is that in Catching Fire, the IMAX experience is not used until we arrive at the Arena. How very clever. My heart beats faster just thinking of that moment when I am eagerly sitting in my seat!
With this highly anticipated movie comes The Capitol Collection from COVERGIRL, inspired by The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
In anticipation for all 12 Districts to be released from the COVERGIRL Capitol Collection, I have been glued to www.covergirl.com/capitolbeautystudio.
First, a friend of mine told me she was one of their Capitol COVERGIRL models, and I was ecstatic as she is a super-beautiful woman named Ubah Hassan. She is the face that launched District 4: Fishing and District 6: Transportation.
Then, I saw the commercial and OH MY GOSH did I want to see more! Stunning work by COVERGIRL Capitol Makeup Artist Dotti.
What an unbelievable project to tackle! And as the District Looks keep coming, I am simply amazed at not only the variety of colors and beauty products being offered, but the versatility of combining them with already existing COVERGIRL products.
The District 1: Luxury Look
The District 1: Luxury Look focuses on Luxe Lips. Combining shades is the idea here for a strong pout using LipPerfection Soulmate with Flipstick Stunner and Intense. They were all mixed together and then dabbed on with a finger for added texture and drama.
District 2: Masonry Look
Nails Of Stone is part of the District 2: Masonry Look, focusing on creating a multi-tone nail.
Similar to a metallic ombre, COVERGIRL suggests painting the nails with two coats of Black Heat Glosstinis and then painting Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss #210 over only the top half of the nail. Finish with a coat of Scalding Emerald Glosstinis in between the two colors to achieve the multidimensional and tonal look.
The District 3: Technology Look
The District 3: Technology Look focuses on the Eye Tech. It suggests a bold eye by layering liners to create the look as opposed to using one color and smudging it. First, create a smooth line in a dark shade, like a Silver Flame Shadow Pencil then top with Black Fire Liquidline Blast for a deep intensity. Finish with Flamed Out Mascara.
The District 4: Fishing Look
The District 4: Fishing Look focuses on the iridescence of the sea and fish scales, offering bold blue and green hues. On eyes, Flamed Out Shadow Pot in Hot Pink is combined with Flamed Out Shadow Pencil in Lime Green, yet, on this look, Flamed Out Shadow Pots in Sapphire Flare and Turquoise Glow are suggested as well. On nails, Glosstinis in Eternal Oceans are suggested to complete the look.
The District 5: Power Look
The District 5: Power Look encourages its wearer to be bold and dramatic when choosing lip, eye, cheek and nail colors.
Flamed Out Shadow Pot in Hot Pink combined with Flamed Out Shadow Pencil in Lime Green really make a powerful statement on the eyes; adding Ink It! Eyeliner in Aquamarine Ink can truly transform your eyes into a dramatically bold statement. Nails are finished with Limited Edition Glosstinis in Flamed Out.
The District 6: Transportation Look
The District 6: Transportation Look focuses on creating Slick Lips. Once again, I see my friend Ubah all over the various displays, and I am absolutely taken back with her looks.
For slick lips, create a bold new shade by combining eye and lip products together! The deep purple shown on Ubah was created by mixing Ink It! in Black Ink with LipPerfection Lip Color in Euphoria. Apply it with a lip brush and then top with Sizzle Gloss for a high-shine pout.
The District 7: Lumber Look
The District 7: Lumber Look focuses on earthy eyes. Shadow pencils are suggested; use them to line the eye with Melted Caramel Flame and then use Gold Flame from the inner corner of the eye to the middle of the lid; finally create another line under the brow with Ashen Glow. When blended all together, you get earth tones with bold impact.
The District 8: Textile Look
The District 8: Textile Look focuses on layering your looks and textures by using Flamed Up Curl Mascara in Very Black and combining it with Flamed Out Shadow Pencil in Red Hot Flame.
COVERGIRL LipPerfection in Burn is suggested for the lips and on nails — the Limited Edition Rogue Red Glosstinis will finish the look off by layering color in different textures, finishes and shine.
The District 9: Grains Look
The District 9: Grains Look was inspired by the golden earth tones of natural grains. Key shades are Flamed Out Shadow Pencil in Crystal Flame, Smoochies Sizzle Lip Gloss in Date Night, Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss in Always Naked combined with Clean Whipped Crème Foundation.
The District 10: Livestock Look
The District 10: Livestock Look seems to reveal a very refreshing and lively palette by offering Ink It! Liner in Cocoa Ink, Flamed Out Shadow Pot in Scorching Cocoa and Flamed Out Shadow Pencil in Hot Pink Flame. On the lips, LipPerfection Lip Color in Temptation and on nails, Limited Edition Glosstinis in Seared Bronze.
The District 11: Agriculture Look
The District 11: Agriculture Look focuses on Blossoming Lips. Ombre lip effects can be created with Flipstick Glimmer. Use the deeper shade on the inner portion of your lips, then flip and use the lighter shade on the outside of the lip. You can also use the same Flipstick as blush!
The District 12: Coal Mining Look
The District 12: Coal Mining Look focuses on Eyes From The Mines. This collection is about creating a smoky-charcoal effect. Use a Charcoal Shadow Pot from the inside to the middle of the lid and Molten Black Shadow Pot on the outside of the lid and also underneath the brow for a dramatic and bold look.

As you can see, this is an extensive launch as Catching Fire is set to be released in theaters on November 22nd, 2013. I must say that most of the looks are too overly dramatic for me, yet we must remember that any look can be toned down.
