Nexxus has come out with a new product line that begins with the three magical words… Youth. Renewal. Rejuvenating. As I age, I long for the carefree days of my younger years: my skin was smoother and more supple; my hair appeared shinier, healthier and was effortless to maintain.
Nexxus’ new product line struck a reminiscent chord with me, and I was definitely willing to see if the products would give me back a small piece of my youth.
The five products included in the new line are Nexxus New Youth Renewal Rejuvenating Shampoo ($14.99), Conditioner (19.99), Plump & Lift Blow Dry Spray ($17.99), Rejuvenating Elixir ($17.99) and Rejuvenating Dry Shampoo ($17.99). Products are available in drug, mass and grocery stores. Although they are priced higher than other drugstore products, the quality is definitely superior.
The new Nexxus line claims to combat 8 signs of aging and as much as I hate to admit it, I was battling all eight. The signs include: volume loss, breakage, less shine, roughness, dryness, brittleness, unruliness and loss of color vibrancy.
Before
Nexxus infused their products with their unique VITA-8 COMPLEX™ (containing omega 3, vitamin E, wheat protein, benzophenone-4, keratin, essence of pearl, argan oil, and CoQ10). The ingredients sounded rich, but would my hair appear more youthful after using it?
First up was the Youth Renewal Rejuvenating Shampoo (13.5 fl oz) and Conditioner (13.5 fl oz). I loved the fact that Nexxus was in tune to the fact that not only was my hair aging, but so were my eyes! I did not use my reading glasses in the shower and they were smart enough to differentiate the conditioner with a white cap top. This was a big plus for the brand!
After
The Shampoo and Conditioner smelled divine; I also loved the way it lathered in my hair. The Shampoo was made to gently cleanse hair with lightweight conditioning without tangling or causing build-up.
The Conditioner was a formula that was infused with vital proteins and lightweight oil conditioners that penetrated hair deeply. It also did not weigh it down or leave in any excess residue. I used the product for a few days and my hair definitely improved. I was thrilled with the results!
I used the Plump & Lift Blow Dry Spray (7.5 fl oz.) for styling. I sprayed the product in my towel-dried hair and styled it as usual. I noticed that even on the rainiest, humid days my hair appeared less frizzy. My hair definitely also had more volume — I was a fan of this spray.
Just using Dry Shampoo
The Strengthening Elixir (.9 fl oz) is a leave-in treatment that rebuilds hair’s strength. It reduces breakage, helps protect against frizz and promises to make hair feel 100% stronger and reduce breakage by 50%. Nexxus claims you would see changes after 7 days: I did notice all of these improvements and I do plan to continue using it.
I can’t say enough about the Dry Shampoo (5 oz.). I have tested about four of them over the course of the past six months, and I have to say, I liked this one the best. It smelled so great and made my hair feel so clean. I’ve been using it a lot between shampoos and I am thrilled with the way my hair looks — it looks and feels like I just washed and styled it.
Nexxus’ Raise your Standard mantra definitely hit home with me. This product line definitely raised mine in more ways than one, and my new bouncier, healthier and more youthful hair was happy that I did. When will you raise yours?
