Redken said it best with their new hair line: “Be ahead of the Curve!” There is nothing more beautiful than natural waves, curls and ringlets. I couldn’t wait, especially after hearing how Redken cared about my input – I WAS FLOORED! The new Curvaceous line will shape-up lazy waves, kick start rebellious ringlets and manage any pattern in between! Well, BeautyStat’s resident “Curl Gurl” had no problem with this one, despite recently sporting straight hair. What better way to get back to my curls than after a 2-week hiatus from straight hair, and with Redken’s new Curvaceous line?

The Curl Gurl is back!
Sorry it took me so long to test drive Redken‘s Curvaceous line, dolls. See, last month I attended Redken‘s new curly hair product launch at their 5th Avenue headquarters in NYC. I was in hair heaven! Redken‘s team LOVED my hair and immediately gave me a tour of the Redken Exchange, which I was more than honored to see. I know this line promises to let all fellow “curlies” lose their fear of frizz, dryness and lack of definition and proudly wear their hair naturally and run in the rain (trust me, that is such a liberating experience which you cannot do when blow drying and flat ironing!). I love my curls and prefer to let ‘em loose!
Evelyn & Jenny
Redken’s curl expert Jenny Balding was front and center to introduce this new 7-product line. Curvaceous features a unique new Curl Memory Complex that nourishes, strengthens and reactivates to restore curly hair’s health, enhance its natural beauty and reduce frizz for up to 3 days straight!* This complex includes sugar crystals to attract moisture to curls and waves
to reactive their natural pattern, as well as moringa oil to drench dehydrated curls with a refreshing boost of moisture; UV filters shield ringlets to maintain shine. All this, combined with Redken’s Interlock Protein Network (IPN) Technology (keralink, amino acids and protein), acts as the tension point of “hi-stress” curls to give you a boost of strength for all-day manageability.
Curvaceous‘ 7-product line can be customized into 180 different products regimens to meet the needs of all curl types. As Jenny Balding explained, to get glossy ringlets use Curvaceous cream shampoo and conditioner (which instantly softened and detangled my hair); apply Ringlet as a base on damp hair (don’t turban-tie wet hair, simply squeeze out excess water); spray with Wind Up; blow-dry with a diffuser (or air dry like I do) and then finish with Full Swirl. For tousled waves, finish with Wind Up and Wave Ahead.
Redken’s Curvaceous is for: Type II Wavy hair (open waves; loose and less defined), Type III Curvy (mix of loose and tighter curls; range from springy and bouncy to languid and loose) Type IV Curly (bouncy curls; range from ringlets to compact coils), Type V Springy (voluminous curls; range from tightly coiled to densely compact twists) and Type VI Spiral hair (most densely, compact; driest and most fragile texture.)
How did I use Curvaceous? Well, I shampooed and conditioned as I usually do. Let me tell you that this is by far the BEST conditioner EVER! Smells amazing and a little bit went a long way — my hair was detangled before I even used the comb! I didn’t leave any conditioner in, as I used Curl Dive Nourishing Mask ($19.00); my hair instantly sprung into coil-y curls. Now you “curlies” know NOT to rub your hair with a towel or wrap up in a turban, as it actually frizzes you hair and roughs up the hair cuticle. Just gently squeeze out excess water, nothing more!
Next, I used a small amount of Full Swirl Cream Serum ($19.00; the dual color formula looks and feels great) just by running the product through my hair. A few drops of Ringlet Perfecting Lotion ($18.00) and I let my hair air-dry. I finished up with Wind Up Reactivating Spray ($18.00) once my hair was fully dry to polish my look. My curls looked AMAZING, which they usually don’t the first time I curl my hair after wearing it straight. Well done, Redken!
