I have to be honest: I’m not really big on wearing makeup. I know, I know… What kind of beauty blogger am I who is not into makeup? I’ve learned over the years that I look and feel my best when I look and feel like ME, which means I shy away from heavy makeup, especially for my day-to-day look.
How To Treat Facial Pores: The Best Products And Treatments To Reduce Pore Size
Although I prefer a more natural look, I do need a little help in making my natural look, well, more natural. That’s why I have fallen in l-o-v-e with the two products I’m about to share with you that not only give you a nice, smooth complexion, but also help preserve that au-naturale glow all day long.
NARS Pro-Prime Instant Line and Pore Perfector
I usually have oily/combination skin, but thanks to the Polar Vortex, my skin has been dry around my nose and under eye area, especially in the mornings. I’ve been using heavier moisturizers to combat the dryness, which means by the middle of the day, my skin has all of a sudden turned shiny again.
Since I’ve started using the NARS Pore-Perfector, my face no longer has a double-dose of shine by the time I leave for my lunch break. Halleju! My everyday look consists of concealer (I love anything by MAC and Smashbox), tinted moisturizer (either by Laura Mercier or Cosmedicine) and a quick swipe of pressed powder (Cover FX for the win). All of this takes me about 3-minutes to apply each morning. It’s very light coverage.
Lately, I’ve been wearing the Pore Perfector under all of this, and I can definitely see that it gives the appearance that I am applying a fuller face of makeup. Someone even asked me the other day, “Are you wearing a new foundation?” A) I was not. Nothing about my regimen had changed… and B) It obviously looked like I had on more foundation-like coverage, which is heavier than a few dabs of concealer and tinted moisturizer. All in all, I looked like I had perfect skin!
Benefit Porefessional Agent Zero Shine
Now that we know what to put under our makeup for a flawless finish, this is something you can put on top of your makeup to minimize shine later in the day. This handy powder will absolutely do the trick. It’s no larger than a travel-sized tube of toothpaste, which makes it great for tossing in your handbag or clutch. There’s a built-in brush, so you have everything you need in this one magical tube. It’s so convenient!
I tried it on a few days when I was not wearing the NARS Pore Perfector, so I could see how it worked on its own. Around noon, I swiped the powder over my cheeks and forehead and in 5-seconds flat, I looked like I had applied a whole new, fresh face of makeup.
The powder is very light and did not look or feel cakey on top of my skin. I also loved that the powder disappeared into my skintone. As a woman of color, I’ve tried a few “translucent” powders that are anything but, and leave residue or an ashy film behind. The Porefessional Agent Zero Shine was fast-absorbing and totally transparent.
