The Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel, $18.99, is said to, “quench dry skin and keep it looking smooth, supple and hydrated day after day.” The unique water gel formula absorbs quickly, like a gel, but has the long-lasting, intense moisturizing power of a cream. It will boost skin’s hydration level and lock it in all day.
The Hydro Boost Water Gel contains sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 15. It also contains hydrating hyaluronic acid, which is naturally found in the skin, and which acts as a sponge for dryness, moisturizing with up to 1,000 times its weight in water. The product is also oil free, non-comedogenic and wearable under makeup.
I used this product every morning for a week. True to its claim, it was very light and fresh going on, which is great for anyone with oily skin, yet it did leave my skin moist and hydrated. I can see it as a great product in the summer, when no one needs extra oil or shine. And it was a good base for make up; application was smooth and easy. My one quibble is the SPF factor, which is only 15. I prefer SPF for daily wear except in summer, when I prefer 45-50.
These Neutrogena Fragrance Free Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes, $6.49, dissolve 99.3 % traces of dirt, oil and makeup for clean, fresh skin in one easy step.” The gentle, ultra soft cloths contain superior cleansing technology so effective that they remove even waterproof mascara. With one step, it leaves skin thoroughly clean with no heavy residue, so there’s no need to rinse. And it’s gentle enough to use around sensitive skin and the eye area, even for contact lens wearers. In addition, the towelettes are:
- Fragrance-free
- Ophthalmologist tested
- Dermatologist tested
- Allergy tested
- Alcohol-free
I used these for several nights in a row and did find them unusually soft and moist. My skin did feel clean, even without rinsing. Also, they would be great for travelling—no worries about spilling or having them confiscated at the security gate. But despite the claims, I did not find that it did a thorough job around the eyes, especially when it comes to eye pencil or liner. Even after using two wipes, there were still residual traces of liner around my eyes and I had to supplement the pads with liquid remover and cotton pads.
