According to Olay, the Olay Regenerist Luminous Facial Oil is “formulated with 9 luxurious enriched natural oils. Instantly hydrates to reveal luminous, healthy-looking skin.” It is designed to work with your skin to protect against moisture loss and preserve balance. It also conditions to smooth skin texture and even tone, and it brings a surge of hydration. Its all-natural blend is made of coconut, apricot kernel, grape seed extract, sunflower, evening primrose, sesame, jojoba, babassu and mimosa oils — and it’s dye-free.
I tried this a few times, both morning and evening. First off, although it is touted as fragrance-free, the smell is heavenly! I detected the apricot most powerfully, but, altogether, the subtle mix was a delight to the senses. I found it better to use at night than during the day; it went on easily, absorbed quickly and left my skin fresh and dewy the next morning. But despite the many assertions about the lightweight, non-greasy formula, I found it too oily for daytime use and applying it made my complexion just a tad too shiny (unless you prefer it). Also, I prefer a moisturizer with an SPF of 30 or more, and this has no SPF at all. But as a new, before bed ritual, this one is a keeper!
Olay Regenerist Luminous Tone Perfecting Treatment is said to, “reveal your most beautiful, pearlescent skin” and to fade “dark spots and discoloration in just four weeks.” It exfoliates the surface for skin that is “visibly smoother and brighter” and its “lightweight, non-greasy formula absorbs quickly, penetrating with a deep, long-lasting hydration.” It contains a significant amount of niacinamide (vitamin B3). I have some dark spots caused by sun damage and was curious to see how this product would work on them.

I used it morning and evening, under whatever crèmes and makeup products I was using. True to its promise, the formula is lightweight and absorbs well. But did it work? Here’s the funny thing: For several weeks, it seemed like it did not do anything at all in terms of lightening dark spots. And then, one day about a month into the treatment, I saw a difference! So I guess it takes time to work, and I will continue to use it in the hope of seeing even better results. And like all the Olay products, it is exceedingly well-priced. A serum that fades dark spots for less than $30? Let me order a case right now!
