The EVE LOM Cleanser ($135.00) was described by Vogue as “probably the best cleanser in the world” and is the foundation of the line’s skincare regime. It is said to be “expertly balanced for all skin types, skin concerns and environmental conditions.
With its signature blend of four aromatic plant oils, specially woven 100% cotton muslin cloth and quick routine, the result is incredibly glowing, radiant skin with a smoother, more refined texture. The difference can be seen instantly and just keeps on improving with use.”
Here are the benefits the company is claiming:
· Deep cleanses without drying or stripping the skin and removes even the most stubborn waterproof make-up
· Thorough cleansing and gentle exfoliation enables skin cells to regenerate quickly and provides a vital receptive base for beauty products to work at their best
· Decongests with the signature massage technique to help drain toxins
· Exfoliates, tones, improves circulation when combined with the specially woven muslin cloth
· Softens and conditions the skin
The formula contains mineral oil, lanolin, cocoa butter and fatty acids, making it best for dry or mature skin. (Even though they claim it is good for all skin types, I think those with oily skin would not find it the best choice.)
Additionally, the clove and eucalyptus give it a fresh and appealing scent. I had to laugh when I read the part about the “quick routine”, because the instructions for use seem like they would take about 20-minutes each time: they involved massaging the product into the skin in a circular motion, using the muslin cloth with warm water, wringing it out, pressing the warm cloth onto the skin and repeating 3Xs and then doing the whole thing again using cold water for the muslin press!
How many of us are really going to do that every day? However, I am happy to report that a more simplified routine of apply, massage and rinse worked just fine. My skin was super-clean without being dry and I loved that clove/eucalyptus scent—so invigorating!
This one is pricey, so you have to decide if an expensive cleanser is worth spending your money, especially since a cleanser is washed off rather soon.
EVE LOM Intense Hydration Serum ($95.00) targets the issue of hydration. According to the company it is, “clinically proven to increase your skin’s moisture levels by up to 20% in just two hours,” and the “simple but highly effective concentrate uses hyaluronic acid (which is also produced naturally in the body) to help smooth, plump, hydrate and protect your complexion.”
EVE LOM outlines these benefits from use:
· Gives skin an instant and long-lasting moisture surge
· Visibly plumps and smoothes the skin to eases the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
· Helps protect skin from dryness and damage
· Lightweight, concentrated and easily absorbed
· Ideal for normal to dry skin in need of extra hydration
I tried this product for a couple of weeks, using morning and evening as directed. I was impressed by how quickly it was absorbed by my skin — when they talk about quick absorption, they are not kidding!
I loved this as a base for sunscreen/foundation/blush/powder during the day and a rich cream at night. I did not notice a major difference in terms of fine lines and wrinkles but overall, my skin looked good — fresh and dewy.
This is an expensive serum but its fast-acting formula is unusual, if not unique.
The EVE LOM ‘Kiss Mix’ Lip Treatment ($24.00) is a moisturizing, protective and cooling lip treatment that can be used under lipstick as a moisturizing base, on its own for a softening pearlized sheen or over lip color for a slick of protective shine.
According to EVE LOM, here are the benefits:
· Keeps lips moisturized, soft and hydrated
· Defends against dryness and chapping
· Cools, refreshes and comforts
· Helps to soothe and repair damage
· Ideal for men or women in extreme weather and for daily use
I tried this alone and over lipstick. Used under, it was a good base for my lipstick; used over, it did a nice job of preventing bleeding/feathering.
I was not, however, a huge fan of the menthol the product contains; it made my lips tingle in a way I did not like. But others love that cooling sensation, and the packaging — the little pot of gloss tucked into the cardboard star ornament — is adorable and makes a perfect stocking stuffer for the ladies on your list. Christmas is coming sooner than you think!
NOTE: Menthol is NOT meant to be used anywhere near your eyes, so be sure to wash/wipe your fingertips clean after using.
