Last month, I took my career to “new heights” when I was invited along with a handful
of editors to view the Big Apple like never before, accompanied by 12-time Olympian Natalie Coughlin on #aMustGoSee helicopter tour of New York City!
We departed from Pier 6 in Lower Manhattan and flew by iconic New York City sights like the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Yankee Stadium, George Washington Bridge, Central Park, Ground Zero and more.
Natalie Coughlin has teamed up with LensCrafters for their new Go See Campaign, which is all about celebrating sight. I’m also a firm believer of eye health, having recently reviewed Rx Sunglasses for LensCrafters – I make sure never to leave home without shades or fancy Rx frames for the office.
It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s the CURL GIRL!
Natalie was so down-to-earth, funny and cool, easing all of our nerves with humor (all first-time heli-fliers!). Of course, me and my big mouth bombarding the instructors with questions got me stuck flying in the front seat with the pilot!
Aside from winning 12 Olympic medals, Natalie appeared on Dancing with the Stars in 2009, was an Olympic analyst for MSNBC during the 2006 Winter Olympic Games and has amazingly healthy hair… for a swimmer!
Natalie & Evelyn talking all things hair!
That day Natalie rocked a sleek bun and I did NOT see a damaged strand in sight! After our helicopter ride, we were all shuttled to Beekman Beer Garden at the South Street Seaport where we enjoyed drinks, food and browsed some hot specs.
Evelyn’s fave pair were these Miu Miu ones!
I had a brief chat with Natalie (about hair, of course) and here’s what she had to say:
E: Aside from winning Olympic medals, what is your greatest accomplishment?
N: Graduating from the University of California, Berkeley.
Ev: As the “Curl Gurl” with “Hair to Share”, you have amazingly HEALTHY HAIR, even for
a swimmer. What is your secret?
N: I always wash my hair with a gentle shampoo after swimming in the pool. Then, I use a heavy moisturizing conditioner and comb it through my hair (with a wide-toothed comb) then rinse. Always use a leave-in treatment!
E: Are you going to continue training?
N: I’ve switched up my workout routines and made it a point to eat well, since I’m training to compete in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Last month, I was in Barcelona competing in the FINA World Swimming Championship. I was part of the 4 x 100 relay that won gold. It was a great competition!
Would you beauties ever jump in a helicopter like Evelyn did? Which pair were your favorite?
