All this hurricane business gave me an extra reason to love my frizz-free locks, thanks to Herbal Essences’ newcomer on the block. But first, let me rewind. I’ve always been a fan of the brand, and one of my all time favorites has been Hello Hydration (I loved the reformulation they did last year which uses actives triggered by water that hydrates your hair’s cuticle).
Last week, after a particularly long and hard day, I trekked south to SoHo to get my hair styled at Arte, and interview Charles Baker Strahan on the new Herbal Essences shampoo and conditioner, Touchably Smooth.
Strahan is a very convincing and caring spokesperson for the brand, and a celebrity hairstylist in his own right (he’s doing Amy Poehler’s hair for the upcoming Emmy Awards, we discovered). “Touchably Smooth is a reformulation,” he says, “and has a softening ingredient. It’s truly for the style junkie.”
Strahan points out how easy we forget that hair needs the correct balance of moisture to really look like hair that you want to really touch. The shampoo and conditioner gives you the right balance of hydration to give your cuticle peace of mind and smoothness. It’s all about making sure the outer cuticle layer is not affected by heat or humidity. Touchably Smooth helps hair achieve that balance.

Post styling: how do you think my hair looks? Pretty wavy/ curly huh?
At Arte, I had master stylist Abby wash and condition my hair with the new Touchably Smooth shampoo and conditioner, which smelt distinctly floral with its infusion of Pink Lily and Asian Silk. She styled my hair using a barrel brush and curling the ends of my hair outwards to give it a beautiful cascade of soft curls. What do you think?

The new shampoo and conditioner was crafted with the premise that both over and under hydration can lead to frizzy hair: what you need is really just the perfect amount. The products have a built-in smoothing serum to condition hair and keep it frizz free and completely style worthy. For $2.99 each, the shampoo and conditioner is definitely worth a try — I mean, how can you go wrong really? Why not sacrifice your weekly allowance of chewing gum and try these beauties? If you’re a style junkie, as Strahan says, these are your guys.
