I tried these eye shadows in two palettes: Splend’Oro Green from the Satin Shadow Milano Trio ($33.50) and the Amalfi Coastal Plums (pictured above) from the Shadow Milano Trio range ($33.50). Borghese claims that these shadows are: “long-lasting” and “irritant and fragrance-free.” They are also said to “blend evenly” as well as “hydrate and soothe eyelids.”
I am happy to report that Borghese is telling the truth. The shadows are subtle and sophisticated — no glitter or shine at all. But they feel wonderfully velvet in texture, blend beautifully and last all day — even in this wretched heat. The combination of colors is unusual; you won’t find these shades in your local Duane Reade or Rite Aid.
I like a bit of sheen on my eyelids for evening, but these were the perfect daytime shadows. I was especially partial to the Amalfi Coastal Plums; my eyes are green and the purples were a nice contrast. But, the Splend’Oro Green trio was great too; loved the rich, matte gold for the browbone area. Not cheap, but well worth the price in my view. You can find the other shades at www.borghese.com.
