‘From the runway to your vanity’ was the tagline of last night’s ELLE event. Launching their first ever cosmetic collection, I was in awe of all of the various color palettes. Available EXCLUSIVELY at Kohl’s and Kohls.com nationwide this April 2012, the ELLE cosmetics collection includes:
Eyes:
Eyeliner: A smooth, creamy formula that glides on the lids with great pigment and available in eight matte and metallic shades. It’s up to you how you want to wear them: either for a more quiet, demure look or a smoky effect by applying a more dramatic color or using a heavier application. Think extra angular, double wings, or an understated look. These are both opthamologist-tested and appropriate for contact lens wearers. Each liner is $ 16.00.
Eyeshadow: A powder eyeshadow with a soft, velvety texture and feel. It is easy to apply and blends uniformly with highly pigmented hues. Each eyeshadow delivers all day wear in over twenty-four shades ranging from matte, low, medium and high color intensity, depending on how it is applied. I sampled four and fell in love with the intensity of the purple, pearl shade. Each compact provides a see through window that allows you to view the shade. Additional benefits include the following: non-allergenic, long-wearing (8 hours), crease-proof (8 hours), dermatologist tested and also ophthalmologist tested. They are $16.00 each and you can apply a single shade over the entire lid for a wash of color, or mix and match with other hues for a more dramatic look. I went for a smoky eye myself but did gravitate towards the more luminescent shades of blues and purples. These shadows range from matte to shimmer, so no matter what you prefer you will have options to choose from.
Mascara:
Thickening: A multi-dimensional thickening formula that both defines and magnifies lashed and also builds the thickness smoothly and evenly. This lush mascara brush is adorned with dense bristles that helps to increase lash density.
Lengthening: A formula containing a blend of silica and waxes that binds to the lashes creating the appearance of lash extensions. The brush was specially designed to provide a precise, smooth and even application so that each lash is shaped and defined.
Volumizing: This mascara was created to give you a high volume, bold lash look while rich pigments provide intense and vibrant color. This brush is specifically designed to be a generously proportioned, dense brush for volumizing each lash.
All three mascaras will be $16.00 each. Not to be funny, but I wanted one of each and I like to change up my look from quiet to dramatic depending on my mood.
Face
Bronzer: A bronzer (pictured above) that does it all. It delivers a shimmering, touched-by-the-sun overall tone and is easy to apply; this bronzer left my skin with an overall radiant glow. It was created using a special blend of pearls and the fine formula provides a soft and silky texture that is suitable for any complexion. Available for $ 16.00 each.
Blush: Eight shades are available and they are oil-free, easy to apply and provide long-lasting color. The texture is like the rest of their line: silky and smooth and once again very easy to apply using the ELLE brushes. At the event, my makeup artist OZ used a pop of pink on the apples of my cheeks to brighten up my face. These blushes are available for $ 16.00 each.
Lips
Lip Gloss: Available in a range of fifteen creamy and shimmery shades; I was able to sample 6 and I did love the way I could wear one alone or over lip liner and/or lipstick. They range from a more matte gloss to a super pearlescent sheen. They all seem to have a high-shine finish. These will be available for $16.00 each.
Lip Liner: Housed in sleek black wood coating, with a shade matched tip, these liners are ultra creamy and glide on with no tugging or dryness. I was told a tip to outline the edge of the lips starting at the center and working outward — this way you get a real defined lip with which you can fill in or add a lipstick and/or gloss as the filler. These will be available for $16.00 each.
Lipstick: A rich, long-lasting formula that delivers sleek, high-shine and color to lips is available in 12 creamy shades for $16.00 each. The lipsticks are non-feathering, fragrance-free, moisturizing and dermatologist tested. There are a variety of colors from nude to their ELLE logo-colored red. Each is infused with olive extract, vitamin E, wheat bran and aloe vera oil. These will be available for $16.00 each.
Nails
Nail Lacquer: Available in twenty-eight shades that range from trendsetting to classic and everything in between. Each nail lacquer is $10.00 and is DBP, toluene and formaldehyde-free.
