Truth be told, I went to three Sephoras searching for the Illamasqua Body Electrics Limited Edition 4-Colour Liquid Metal Palette — and all were sold out! Not that it was a new Illamasqua palette, but the fact is that their pigments in this palette blew me away and I thought they would be great for summer.
Most Sephoras don’t even have the palette available to swatch 🙁
Fortunately, I was able to swatch them from their display and much to my surprise, got the palette from friends and am the happiest beauty writer at this present moment! In this article I will sample two of their new palettes and the much sought-after Liquid Metal Palette that appears to be only available through Illasmasqua.com (although it says it is not in stock as of today). The other new palettes are available at Sephora and www.sephora.com for $42.50 each and are selling quickly.
Liquid Metal Palette
Neutral Palette
BeauyStat has been watching Illamasqua, writing about several of their products, and have been noticeably impressed with their quality: powerful pigments and wonderfully creative advertising campaigns. I was more than pleased to see the brand with pigments that pack a punch introduce a Neutral Palette, quite literally. Two of the shades are creamy and two of the shades are very metallic and bold. All together they can be layered or you can also wear each individually, making the palette completely customizable for your day and night look. This palette suits every skin tone and is for the reader that doesn’t truly want to use Illamasqua as “Makeup for your alter ego” — which is their tagline! Palette colors include Stealth, Vintage, Obsidian and Wolf. I was able to use all four (sampled on eyes) and simply added liner for a more dramatic look.
The Fundamental Palette has bright, colorful pigments in which a very little goes a long way. I fell for the seafoam-like shade as well as the silver and purple yet was unsure how to use the yellow; I think I will place just a small dab as a highlighter over the middle of my lower lid.

This palette is not for the faint of heart, according to Sephora’s website. Colors in this palette are Hype, liquid metal in Surge; powder shadow in Inception; cream pigment in Bedaub. These colors were introduced as a series of explosive new shades for the Summer/Spring 2012 collection.
Lastly, I swatched and sampled the 4-Colour Liquid Metal Palette and these colors would also work on any skin tone. These must be used sparingly as a small finger tip of each color can make it through both eye applications! The Liquid Metal colors included in this palette are Enrapture, Surge, Solstice and Phenomena — and there is also a how-to video on www.illamsaqua.com if you’d like to see how their makeup artists suggest using this palette. As mentioned above, this palette is sold at www.illamasqua.com and there is a tab to hit to be notified when it’s back in stock… hopefully in the U.S., too!
Be sure to stop by the gondolas at your nearest Sephora to check out this brand, but also make sure to call as only select Sephora locations (approximately fifty) carry this line. You can always find the entire collection (minus the Liquid Metal Palette) by visiting www.sephora.com.
