My adrenaline must have been pumping as I entered The Makeup Show at The Metropolitan Pavilion this Mother’s Day, so much so that my palms were sweaty. The Makeup Show travels internationally from L.A., NYC, Chicago, Europe and Orlando bringing each destination over sixty beauty brands to showcase.
This show is open to makeup professionals only and is the one show a year that gathers many top celebrity makeup artists such as Frances Hathaway, Ricky Wilson as well as the show’s founders James Vincent, Danessa Myricks, Esterique Aidan, Jon Hennessey and Orlando Santiago. So many beloved brands were there and I was also introduced to many new ones. Being that this event was so large, I will highlight some of the previews I personally found of interest. Of course Smashbox, NARS, M·A·C, Stila, FACE atelier, MAKEUP FOR EVER and the other larger known brands were present — and booths were BOOMING with MUAs clamoring to buy products with their Pro discounts — so I will showcase some names you may not be as familiar with. Armour Beauty‘s Theo Kogan was on hand to debut two new shades of rock ‘n’ roll lip gloss in Lucy and Marilyn. Lucy is a bright opaque orange with a lot of pigment, while Marilyn is an iridescent silver shimmer with tons of sparkle. These shades are perfect for the spring, especially the summer. For lip glosses, they are so incredibly pigmented and definitely worth their quality. I was drawn to this line as their collection was as colorful as their rockstar founder, Theo Kogan.
