Skin gadgets are all the rage this year and many companies have jumped on this trend! Clinique is no exception with its Sonic System. But what makes these products special is their compact, easy-traveling storage, and their multi functionality. You’ll be saving space and money.
The Sonic System Purifying Cleansing brush ($89) is an innovative, gentle system that is focused on giving you your best skin ever! The Sonic movement offers deep, gentle cleansing with an angled tip that targets T-Zone and other hard to reach places. It deep cleans by gently lifting oil and dirt. For the deepest clean, try to remove your makeup before use with a makeup remover, although you can use this system to remove makeup as well. Massage in circular motions for 15 seconds on cheeks using the white bristles. No need to apply pressure. Massage in up-and-down motion for 15 seconds combined on T-Zone using green bristles. I tried it with the scentless and mild Extra Gentle Cleansing Foam ($20). It’s perfect for its non-irritating, plush formula and leaves skin feeling fresh and comfortable—not tight or dry. Unlike the Clarisonic, this system feels easier and better for sensitive skin. The brush is soft and gentle and doesn’t feel at all abrasive. The sound is soft and not at all annoying.
Not only is this system cheaper and smaller than the infamous Clarisonic Systems, it can double as a makeup applicator. Enter the Sonic System Airbrushed Finish Liquid Foundation Sponge ($26). A small investment that makes makeup application much easier. Just swap out the cleansing brush for your makeup sponge and you’re ready to go. The dermatologist-developed round sponge attachment gently buffs and blends foundation evenly onto skin, it provides a smooth, seamless application. It’s especially great for bringing foundation down the neck without accidentally getting product all over your clothes. The vibrations gently buff in product evenly and streak-free.
Be sure to dampen the sponge before application because as with most sponges, like the Beauty Blender, a dry sponge can eat up product. For best results, use on clean skin prepped with moisturizer and/or primer. Dot your favorite liquid foundation on forehead, cheeks, chin. Or, pour small amount into hand and dip (works well for very liquid formulas). Cream foundations: dip directly into cream. I used Super Balanced Makeup in 34 Nude Beige ($24) and Even Better Makeup ($27) in 06 Honey. Gently glide over face (no pressure needed), blending foundation from center outward. Device turns off after 30 seconds; press button to restart. After each use, clean with soap and water. Rinse thoroughly, shaking off excess water. Air dry before next use. The entire process takes a bit longer than the traditional finger method and may use a little more product, but it’s perfect for a night out or special event when you truly need an airbrushed application! Both brushes come with plastic covers which make for sanitary storage.
