Jane Iredale, known for her skincare-based makeup, does it again with the Spring 2014 Magic Hour Collection. Golden light and warm, shimmering color — the Magic Hour Collection includes gorgeous shades and products that will send you over the moon.
Spring makeup inspired by the iconic Moonglow Quad Bronzer imparts a glow to any part of the body, and this collection includes the following:
Lip Fixation in Compulsion/Craze
Jelly Jar Gel Eyeliner in Black/Brown
Angle Eyeliner Brush
PurePressed Eye Shadow Triple in Golden Girl
In Touch Highlighter in Comfort
I had the opportunity to try out the Golden Girl Triple and Lip Fixation in Craze. Both products are available in tones that are perfect for the spring and summer months, but, can be easily worn year-round and used on most skintones.
The Lip Fixation is a dual-ended lip stain and gloss. It is said to provide long-lasting color and moisturizing shine to the lips. It’s packed with botanicals for buildable coverage that provides soothing comfort. I have used this Lip Fixation a few times, even though I am not a huge lip stain type person. I am happy to say that the gloss is not that sticky, but still provides nice moisture on the lips; the sparkle does kiss off fairly quickly.
While I do like that it did not feather on my lips, you need to build the color up and apply several layers to obtain the color pay-off you would like. If you are looking for a soft and wearable shade on the lips, then this may work for you. My lips were not dry at all, which is a great plus!
The Golden Girl Trio offers gorgeous bronze and gold shades. This little palette is perfect for
travel and can be used to create everyday neutral-toned looks or gorgeous smoky eyes. It includes a deep bronze, shimmery dusty rose and a rich gold shade — all of which include shimmer.
I am not a huge fan of palettes that do not have at least one matte shade, but that’s a personal preference. This little palette is awesome for your makeup bag or for travel because of how universal the shades are, but I do wish it included a matte shade for blending, transition or highlight – since I am not a fan of shimmer all over the eyes without it being broken up with a matte shade.
The pigment on these shades are gorgeous, but I do think that they will show up best on light to medium skintones. I have medium skin and still had a very hard time getting the shades (including the dark) to show up well on my eyes. I’m sure if I had a sticky white base or dark base it would have shown up much better. But if you’re after sheer shades, then this palette is magic!
