Taking an over-the-top Pinterest beauty trend off your computer screen and into real life is a rite of passage for every woman. I have tried the halo braid (fail), the office-supply moon manicure (C+), and, now, the glitter-covered lip. As seen on Pinterest and Tumblr, full-coverage glitter lips are glamorous in an untouchable disco-diva sort of way. Glittery makeup is very much a look by girls and for girls, and nothing says “I am not at this party for a man” quite like covering your lips in glitter. Fact.
Another bonus of the glitter lip is that you can keep the rest of your face minimal and still look festive. Ciate Glitz Fix makes it very, very easy to get an unforgettably glam look.
I wanted a full coverage red, so I applied Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Mandarin before cracking open the Glitz Fix and (mostly) following the instructions.
Step 1: Coat lips with a thin layer of the Glitz Grip transparent glitter sealer.
Step 2: Load up the applicator with glitter and gently roll on your lips.
Step 3: Build the glitter up in thin layers on the entire lip for a full-coverage finish or dab to the center of the lip and blend outward to create a glittering ombré effect.
Step 4: Sweep away any stray sparkles using the mini lip fan brush for a clean finish.
The included applicator is designed for a precise, mess-free application, but I prefer to do things free hand. For a quicker application, tap out a bit of the glitter onto a business card, and apply directly to your lips with a fingertip. If you make a mess, use a piece of scotch tape to clean up spilled glitter.
Glitz Fix holds up surprisingly well during parties. I don’t recommend eating with your full glitz pout, but the glitter will hang on tight through a few glasses of champagne and PG-rated kisses. If you’re looking for a lip look that doesn’t need to be touched up while you dance, Glitz Fix is a great pick that’s actually surprisingly easy to maintain.
