ULTA VELVETSKIN MELTING MOISTURIZER, $19.50
Ulta’s Velvetskin Melting Moisturizer is a whipped, hydrating soufflé that “melts into the skin providing non-greasy moisture” that is said to leave skin feeling “velvety smooth” and “visibly brighter.” Hyaluronic acid and superfruit extracts hydrate skin and help protect from pollution and environmental stressors. This skin-plumping, moisture replenishing product is said to be ideal for for normal to dry skin types. It’s also free of parabens and sulfates and it is not tested on animals.
I used this product on several different evenings, applying a thick, generous layer over cleansed skin. It had the delightful texture of marshmallow fluff, and the absorption was very rapid. The next day, my skin was smooth and soft. Bottom line: a yummy, luxurious product at a cost-conscious price.
WATERFALL GEL CREAM MOISTURIZER, $19.50
Ulta’s oil-free Waterfall Gel Cream Moisturizer claims that it is “as light as water” and that it will flood skin with essential hydration. Hyaluronic acid and algae extracts hydrate and replenish skin. The lightweight gel provides oil free hydration for all skin types and is said to “instantly revive skin.” It is also free of parabens, sulfates, oil, gluten and is not tested on animals.
I prefer my daytime moisturizer to have an SPF of at least 30 and so I used this at night. I loved the pale blue-green color and the lightweight formula that was neither sticky nor tacky. I also appreciated the scent, which put me in mind of a morning on the beach. The product went on easily and absorbed well. In the morning, my skin looked fresh, hydrated and plump. This is a great product for women who don’t want additional oil on their skin yet still want their faces to look moist and dewy. I’m going to use it as a summer moisturizer because who wants anything heavy or greasy on those steamy summer nights?
ULTA BEAUTY DEWDRENCH REPLENISHING ESSENCE. $19.50
Ulta’s Dewdrench Replenishing Essence is a super lightweight essence-serum that “drenches skin in liquid hydration for ultra silky, dewy-looking skin.” Hyaluronic acid and coconut oil provide instant and long-term hydration. The water-rich formula glides over skin and absorbs quickly, resulting in skin that is “plump, dewy, and hydrated.” The product is free of parabens and sulfates and is not tested on animals.
I’m a fairly recent convert to serums, and so I’m always eager to try a new one. I used this one a few nights running, I’m happy to report it is an excellent product, with super-quick absorption, which is always important to me. In the morning my skin was fresh, hydrated and soft, and there was no sticky residue left behind. A solid product at a great price—many serums cost twice or three times as much.
