Makeup Revolution has finally come to the United States! I was excited to try the Makeup Revolution Mermaids Forever 32 Piece Eyeshadow Palette, $15 at Ulta. You get 32 shades of eyeshadow in an array of beautiful colors. There are plenty of jewel tone shades in this palette, inspired by aquatic fairy tales and folklore, from sea greens to cobalt blues. The palette has a huge mirror, making it perfect for travel. The mirror is clear allowing for precise makeup application, it’s not one of those dreaded “fun house” mirrors.
I created an everyday look that was very eye catching and I received a lot of compliments on it! I used the first and second shades in the top row on the first 2/3 of my lid and inner corner. I used the first shade in the top row right under my brown bone. I used a mixture of the seventh shades in the second row and third row on the outer 1/3 of my lid and crease. I also blended in some of the beautiful reddish shade that sits in the fourth row, the third shadow over. I absolutely love this look and how it came out.
I found that these shades blended very easily. Some of the shades take a little more effort to build up the color. I used just a regular eyeshadow primer. Tip: If you use a white base, you will find that the colors come out a lot more vibrant. Use a black base to really intensify the shades.
As you can see from the swatches on my hand, I did not use a base at all. Some of them are a little sheer, which I actually appreciate. Sometimes for beginners it can be a little difficult to work with extremely pigmented shadows.
For the price, this is a great palette of shadows. Kudos to Makeup Revolution for creating such an awesome, affordable palette. If you’re looking to expand your eyeshadow collection to get some colorful shades in your makeup repertoire, this is a gorgeous palette to check out. I’m usually an everyday neutral girl, but I do enjoy using pops of color here and there, so something that is so affordable and of good quality is great.
