Hi BeautyStat dolls, your resident ‘Curl Gurl’ with Hair to Share did the unthinkable: I marched into the Ouidad Flagship Salon on Wednesday morning and cut my hair… 5-inches worth! Now, before anyone says “OMG, how could you?” (that’s all I keep hearing), let me start by saying that my wonderful stylist Anila (no one else at Ouidad’s wanted to touch my hair to cut it) did NOT want to cut my hair as short as I asked. In fact, Anila kept fighting me and saying “No, No, NOOOO! OK?” Well, let’s just say I helped her out a bit (tee-hee… relax, my hair grows back extremely fast!).
Before Shots
Between all the different products I use, stressful deadlines at the office, L.A. sun and beaches – my hair was screaming S.O.S! Sure it looked good, but I know my hair and knew that it just had to be done. I didn’t do anything to my hair prior to arriving at Ouidad Salon. I know I’m in good hands. I arrived, had my lengthy consultation (really a debate as to how short I wanted vs. what Anila said I was getting, lol) and then off to shampoo it was.
Haircut Transformation Process
My hair was washed with Ouidad’s Curl Quencher Moisturizing Shampoo ($15.00), then detangled with Curl Quencher Moisturizing Conditioner ($17.00). Then, it was off to cut! Anila gave me layers as my hair is so thick and heavy, then Ouidad’s signature “carve and slice” was done – a technique which Ouidad Salon specializes in; their trademark for cutting curly hair. After 10 minutes of cutting, I went back for an Omega-3 Replenishing Hair Treatment (rich in amino acids) where heat was applied to my hair under the dryer for 10 minutes.
After — 5-Inches Shorter!
After a rinse, Anila styled my hair with Ouidad’s Climate Control Heat & Humidity Gel ($22.00), finished off with Ouidad Clear Control Pomade ($26.00), using a diffuser to dry. I love my new shorter ‘do! Rest assured, that my days as your ‘Curl Gurl’ aren’t’ over… if anything, my hair is now healthier, bouncier and full of shine.

My curls have come alive, giving me fuller body (that I really don’t need). In fact, I showed off my new haircut at the Benefit Cosmetics Fashion Police Party later that night for New York Fashion Week with Joan Rivers (who LOVED my hair), Melissa Rivers, Kimora Lee Simmons and George Kotsiopoulos! Hope you guys like my newer shorter ‘do.
