This spring, you don’t have to choose just ONE hair color. Introducing the next big hair color trend: bronde – a perfect balance between blonde and brunette.

Hair Color Trend 2014: Bronde Between Blonde & Brunette - How To Lighten And Darken Your Hair For Light, Medium And Dark Skintones

Celebrity Hair Colorist, Rita Hazan tells us how every skintone can pull off this new hair color hybrid. See how some of Hollywood’s A-listers including Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez and Jessica Biel are pulling off this trend.

Beyoncé has a darker complexion, so, for her skin type, it’s best to leave her natural color and slightly lighten it up. The darker roots allow her to go lighter without looking washed out,” says Rita.

DARK SKINTONE TIP: To give the color more depth, Rita suggests to those with similar skintones to leave darker shades on the top, middle and bottom — and lighten the hair throughout. This will create dimension and keep skin looking warm and glowing during winter months.

Jennifer has a richer, fuller color. This look can be attained by hair extensions to create a more dramatic color without being permanent,” says the hair color authority.

MEDIUM SKINTONE TIP: To get a similar look without extensions, Rita says to color the hair underneath, as if the lighter color is almost hidden and peeking out — it will enhance the “bronde” effect. This will also create an illusion of volume, making the hair look thicker.

Jessica’s ends are sunkissed and colored more towards the middle of her face, creating a blended look rather than drastically going too blonde or too dark,” Rita explains.

“This color technique created more of a sophisticated and mature look. The face-framing highlights soften the face without washing her out, since she has a lighter skintone.”

LIGHT SKINTONE TIP: To maintain the bronde color, Rita suggests using her Ultimate Shine Color Gloss to add lustrous shine to color treated hair in order to maintain its vibrancy between salon visits.
