Celebrity Hairstylist Ted Gibson styled Lupita Nyong’o’s hair for the Critic’s Choice Awards in LA last night. Here’s how to get her look:
“I love working with her because she loves beauty. It’s so much fun to work with actresses who love the experience of getting ready for a red carpet event,” explains Ted.

“For Lupita’s hair, I started off using 2 shine lotions mixed with a sting hold wax. After applying that to her hair, I pressed hot towels to her head to calm flyaways and give shine.
Textured hair absorbs light so it’s very important to give this type of hair shine and moisturizing products. Next, using a fiber-filling agent, I then exaggerated her widow’s peak by filling in her hairline. I waited for that to dry then applied hairspray to hold in place.”
