Two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of visiting the first brick and mortar salon by Carol’s Daughter called MIRROR, located in Harlem, NY!
We’ve all heard about Carol’s Daughter (the #1 seller on HSN),well, founder Lisa Price (who in the ‘90s worked as a writer’s assistant on the legendary sitcom The Cosby Show) started this business in her Brooklyn kitchen mixing fragrances and creams.
Naming the line after her mother, Carol, Lisa launched a humble business, which turned into an empire as her collection spread via word of mouth like wildfire.
Evelyn and Lisa Price
Lisa Price helped create the fragrance My Life by Mary J. Blige and introduced the “I Am” campaign with her Spoke Beauties Halle Berry, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Solange Knowles and Selita Banks to name a few.
Today, you can find Carol’s Daughter line at www.CarolsDaughter.com, Sephora, Macy’s, Dillard’s, Regis, ULTA, Belk and of course, HSN! Lisa Price says:
“I’m so excited about this salon. It has always been part of my dream to have a hair salon that took in any woman, despite her texture and state of her hair and transform her to have her best hair ever!”
Carol’s Daughter is not only for “natural curlies” or those transitioning, but for ALL HAIR TYPES!
Evelyn and Robin Groover
With the flagship MIRROR salon opening in Harlem, NY on February 14th, a second salon will open up in a few weeks in Atlanta, GA! Partnering with healthy haircare expert Robin D. Groover (Groove Global founder), MIRROR Salon is the first of its kind, as it teaches their clients how to achieve healthy hair through tests and progress reports.
Look! It’s Evelyn with fellow BeautyStat writer Jill Goldsberry
Robin Groover has over twenty years of entrepreneurial, product researcher and developer, educator and professional styling experience. Groover is fascinated by beautiful hair and how to achieve it:
“Women everywhere can achieve beautiful, flawless and healthy hair THE NATURAL WAY!”
Right as you walk up to the salon from the sidewalk, it’s beautiful: you encounter this huge oak door. Inside, you have the Carol’s Daughter store in the front and the MIRROR Salon in the back.
Why the name “MIRROR”? Well, because there are literally mirrors everywhere: walls, ceiling EVEN “rearview mirrors” over the shampoo bowls – so that you can see the special cleansing and conditioning techniques the stylist explains and demonstrates. You will get a tailored, educational, step-by-step experience that you won’t find at any other salon!
Why, hair-o there!
True Reflection Consultation ($25.00; required for all first-time clients. Price goes towards your first service if booked the same day.) Includes scalp analysis, density evaluation, porosity test, elasticity test, healthy haircare plan and signature style, cut and color blueprint.
Customized Hair Therapy ($43.00 value INCLUDED IN ALL SERVICES – cleanse, massage, condition and steam.
Mirrors are the focal point of the MIRROR Salon. Now, let me tell you about the amazing chairs at the shampoo bowls: leather, with your feet reclined and the shiatsu head massages. Complete bliss! I actually fell asleep!
Steaming away…
Scalp massages help promote healthy blood flow to the scalp, followed by steam therapy (an innovative technique that uses steam to open pores on the scalp, so that hair is more accepting of treatments). Ionic heat is used at the salon, which promotes healthy hair and eliminates frizz through the use of negative ions.

Lisa’s Hair Elixir Scalp & Hair Health Collection ($36.00) Start at the source! Grow your healthiest hair! What is it? A scalp spray and restoring oil that nourishes hair through all three phases of growth: deep inside the follicle, along the scalp and all over the hair strand!
How does it work? This collection works to take care of your scalp and hair during the three phases of hair growth:
1) Promoting an ideal environment where hair first starts growing, at the root, and inside the follicle for healthy cell turnover and bulbs.
2) Gentle exfoliation for healthy cell turnover to prep the hair shaft for growth
3) Enforcing hair strands with essential oils to strengthen and moisturize, reducing shedding and breakage.
Evelyn all done and looking fabulous!
Lisa’s Hair Elixir Fortifying Scalp Spray ($22.00)
For optimal hair growth, this spray deeply purifies hair at the root. Natural sugars exfoliate scalp to shed old layers and wash away impurities from both the follicle and scalp. A precise blend of cedar leaf, rosemary and camphor oils create an elixir that conditions and soothes; it eliminates redness, irritation and tightness.
Lisa’s Hair Elixir Restoring Hair Oil ($20.00)
The best-selling, award-winning and long-time Lisa’s Hair Elixir Scalp & Hair Oil, has a new name and packaging. It delivers a conditioning blend of essential oils (basil to strengthen and repair the hair cuticle; mint oil to rejuvenate and moisturize the cuticle, infusing it with shine and eucalyptus oil to purify the scalp and hair, leaving it balanced and light).
NEW Monoi Oil Sacred Strengthening Serum ($30.00) What is it? For indestructible hair that protects from ALL damage. Known as “the white gold of Tahiti”, this serum’s lightweight, silicone-free formula strengthens hair by 92% after one use!
The Polynesian ritual involves using fifteen Tiaré gardenia flower buds that are soaked in the first cold press oil of the indigenous coprah coconut. Key ingredients: mirabelle plum seed oil, kukui and rose hip seed oils.
To use: 1-2 pumps on towel-dried hair and style as you normally would. If you desire more frizz control, apply another pump to your dried hair.
