From the “Digits Rock” Files: Fall 2010 Nail Polish Trends Review

Let your digits wear their inner celebrity: either go bold this season with your nail color, or scale back and wear pastels. So say the celebs, at any rate.

At the 2010 primetime Emmy Awards, statement nails were all the rage: both Lauren Graham and January Jones rocked their manis on the red carpet: Graham offsetting her black and white gown with red nails and Jones with a deep purple.

Other shades that celebrities have rocked so far include powder blue to chocolate brown. Kim Kardashian, known for her stylish abilities has been on the forefront of the fall trend with her Dark Chocolate colored nails that look like a deeper version of chocolate ganache.

Lauren Conrad, a victim of Nail Polish Gate on The Hills a few years back, has also pioneered the colorful manicure trend, shown here with a pastel color for Fall in powder-blue.

Although Stylist.com says the Fall nail color trend will steer away from the neon nails we thought were so chic last week, with the onset of Chanel’s new release we may see a switch over to the moody, muted shades “that will waft in with the cool Autumn winds.”

Chanel’s headliner, or nail-liner, is Paradoxal, a dark gray-violet that is projected to be the new statement-maker of the season. This limited edition shade is more concord grape and “griolet,” to use a word coined by the team at Stylelist. To view some great swatches, click here. And to see more Fall Makeup trends see here.

Tell us, are you indulging in darker, more violet vampy shades this fall? Or are you a more Khakhi Rose kind of gal?

  1. I completely ADORE that Paradoxal! I have about 5 million shades of purple polish but not that one, it’s on the list for sure. And I’m definitely all about dark vampy shades for fall, especially in October.
