Viola Davis. She’s sexy and she knows it. The last few years she has been rocking the red carpet with sassy-shaped dresses and bold colors. This award season she looked amazing and wore two of my favorite looks. For the Golden Globes, it was all about her berry dress and lips; for the SAG awards, she rocked a gorgeous peachy, golden hued complexion. FLAWLESS!
Now, I know you’re asking how can I get this gorgeous look? Well kids, I’m going to tell you. As I mentioned for the SAG awards she rocked a beautiful, golden complexion. First off, you need to start with a moisturizer that will give your skin a dewy glow such as Embryolisse Crème Riche Hydratante. The foundation should also have a dewy texture. My favorite product to capture that look is the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation. Then, follow up with concealer in a matching shade. Some of my favorite concealers are from NARS; if you like a stick, then choose Bobbi Brown for a creamier consistency as well as their corrector (which is a GODSEND for mornings when I haven’t had much sleep) and Lancôme for a liquid.
Powder should also be applied with a brush all over the face for a light, matte finish. I love face powders by Shu Uemura, Make Up Forever and NARS. Next up are brows. Using feather-like strokes, apply an eyebrow pencil to make the perfect shape. My favorite is by Makeup For Ever: not too hard, not too soft. On both occasions she had a defined black line: for the Golden Globes it was a heavier application and for the SAG it was lightly defined. Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner would be great.
NARS also makes my favorite eyeshadows. For the SAG look, you could use El Dorado as a cream base followed by Etrusque ( a peachy, golden hue) on the lid with Abyssinia under the brow. And, of course, followed with the right blush in Torrid or Super Orgasm (also from NARS) which are gorgeous for a dewy, shimmering look. And for the finishing touch, use Illamasqua lipstick in Utopia along with their sheer lipgloss in Torture — a warm coral; looks frighting in the tube but it goes on sheer. Also, don’t forget individual false lashes on outer corners and TONS OF MASCARA. The newest mascara from Dior will give you lush, full lashes.
And there you have it! My favorite look inspired by Viola Davis. Good luck at the Oscars this evening! I know she is going to look STUNNING!!
