“I have been converted!” That was the first thing I said when I tried out Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipsticks. What was I converted to? Well, unlike religion or cable packages, I was converted to luxury lipsticks. Due to being absentminded, forgetful and all-out careless, a few year ago I stopped buying high-end lipsticks and just started to use the cheap stuff.
And although I tried to make myself believe it was just as good, deep down I knew it wasn’t. Between the odd scents, the lack of moisture, the peeling and let’s not forget the messy outbreaks in your handbag, cheap lipstick was causing me more harm than good.
There have been many studies that have been done on lipstick. Now let’s get to shape: sculpting means two things with these lipsticks. Upon first glance, the sleek shape gives just enough angle for application, but isn’t sharp enough to look like a rocket. The color was so intense that re-application didn’t happen until a few hours later. The first shade I tried was Red Ego, a shade closer to burgundy with a rust-like undertone — super-flattering on my skintone during this first full week of fall. My next shade, Dynamic, was a sheer yet creamy pink. This subtle taupe-like pink was deep and rich; this is the shade you wear when you want to make a subtle impression but still leave your mark of vanity.
Next up was Impassioned, a bolt of orange that made my lips look like a sexy pumpkin, and added light to my face, bringing out my freckles and giving me a fun and youthful look. Last, Tumultuous Pink, the anti-Barbie pink, closer to fuchsia but seductive and sophisticated. Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipsticks will make you put away your lipgloss and return to the days when ladies wore lipstick and left their lip print as a seal of seduction. I’ve converted and now my mouth will sing this lipstick’s praises.
