Rarely do you find a skincare brand that cares about you. Not just how you look, but the overall well-being of your health and body. And with body we’re talking skin too, of course! I attended a press event for Mio Skincare, the new line from the same women’s health conscious makers who brought us Mama Mio for pregnant mamas.
Bouncing on my pink fitness ball, I was intrigued by the new line with its clean design and glass bottles (which always pull me in for some reason. I think it’s very luxe). With the brand mantras like, “Fit Skin For Life” and “Strong Is The New Skinny”, I knew I was about to learn something far more impacting than a super-duper moisturizing cream that’s “really good and stuff.”
With products like Get Waisted (a tummy contouring cream) and Boob Tube+ (a boob firming and lifting cream), I knew that I also had to combine a moderate fitness routine to truly reap the benefits of these products, or at least appreciate them.
I recently started taking kickboxing and dancing classes, just a New Year’s resolution of mine. And as the Workout Wonder muscle gel was passed around to sample, we were told to rub the cream on our necks.
Just before Taryn Toomey challenged our bodies to the max!
Well, I was instantly surprised to feel a deep cooling sensation that released my tensed neck (all that shadow punching from the previous night left me awkwardly hunched). The revitalizing ingredients arnica, horse chestnut, murumuru butter, spearmint and natural magnesium increases circulation, eases aches and inflammation and helps speed up recovery. So, I was initially hooked on this wonder cream — and I couldn’t wait until my next workout to really reap its benefits again.
But my Mio journey didn’t end there. Now self-assured to be moderately “in shape” from going to the gym 3-4 times a week, I agreed to attend a Taryn Toomey The Class… class, which is the next big thing in fitness (Naomi Watts attends her classes, jussayin’).
So, as I worked through my pain, tortured my hamstrings and motioned my arms in circular movements until they felt like pudding, I literally ran home to enjoy some yoga! No, no… not more exercise, but Liquid Yoga — a restorative relaxing bath soak that eases sore muscles and promises that when you emerge from your tub, you’ll be ready to take on the world once again.
Magnesium-rich epsom salts and arnica relieve aches and pains, helping muscles recover — and eliminate toxins that prevent your body from reaching its potential. A blend of spearmint, cypress, lavender, mandarin and chamomile essential oils ease stress and anxiety, plus moisturizing, anti-inflammatory murumuru butter makes your skin feel insanely soft. I really do love the smell of this stuff. One hefty “glug” of it poured into a hot bath really takes the edge off.
I then apply The Activist firming body oil to ensure that my skin is fully conditioned and supple. Omegas, free-radical fighting antioxidants and vitamins make this truly the best body oil you will ever use. It has a citrusy-powdery scent that sinks into skin quickly so you can have a good night’s sleep without the greasy residue. Mio wants women to take care of themselves, starting from the inside out. So put yourself first for a change and see what your body is capable of — great things we bet.
