THE TRENDS: A FRESH SUN-KISSED FACE, IMPERFECT HAIR

Temptu’s look for the Lorick Spring Summer 2011 Fashion week show resulted in models with a clean sun kissed look, fresh foundation, with a hint of bronze on the cheeks using their blush in Peony. The skin was prepped by gentle exfoliation, and moisturizing it heavily before using their signature airbrush foundation.

The hair, done by Philip Pelusi, was beautifully imperfect. “It’s a bit of a beachcombed look. We used dry shampoo to get the hairdo, and ensured there was no crunchiness to the hair texture. We deliberately brushed the outside of the hair to get the look,” says Jeffrey Reitz.

As for the clothes, with a collection name like Linear Dawn, one is inspired to think of straight lines and pastel, sun-kissed colors, which is exactly the sentiment echoed. The inspiration of Abigail Lorick came from Agnes Martin, and the visitors feasted on the grids and lines of city and daily life.

Think pastels and a Mondrian-like minimalism. Think Eileen Fisher grows up. This collection stands on its own, but each piece disintegrates and pulls apart like a finely constructed lego building. A strong and calming force indeed.
