Whether you’re a guest, part of the bridal party, or the bride-to-be herself, Cutler/Redken stylist Micki Charles has an effortlessly chic hairstyle perfectly fit for your nuptial needs.
Subtle Glamour:
You want to look like the most beautiful version of yourself on your wedding day, so up the glamour on your signature look. I like to suggest wearing your hair down on your special day, while adding major volume and texture for a very romantic look.
Step 1: Start off with damp hair and apply a product that tames frizz and adds control. I like Redken’s Velvet Gelatin 07 because it creates a pillowy soft texture to boot.
Step 2: Section and blow dry your hair with a large round brush, focusing on the roots to add volume. After blow drying use a large curling iron to refine the curl. PRO TIP – Make sure to curl the front sections away from your face!
Step 3: Spray with a light hold hairspray – I like Redken’s Fashion Works 12.
Stept 4: Use a Mason Pearson to brush through the curls. This step is important to soften the curls and add that major glam factor.
Romantic Up-do:
If you are part of a wedding party or even just a guest, opt for braids and buns for an easy, elegant look. Plus, these up-do’s will help keep you cool in the warmer temps – #hellodancefloor!
Step 1: Start by washing your hair the night before – PRO TIP: A little bit of natural oils goes a long way for any up-do.
Step 2: Dampen your hair with a spray bottle (be careful not to make it too wet) and apply a light mouse from roots to ends – I LOVE Redken’s Full Frame 07.
Step 3: For a more put together look, blow dry with a round bush to achieve a smooth, shiny finish OR rough dry with fingers to get that “textured” appearance.
Step 4: Create a clean part – either in the center for a stronger look or to the side for something softer.
Step 5: Section your hair into thirds, one section on either side of the part and one section in the back.
Step 6: On each side of the part create a braids. Then create two more braids at the nape of the neck.
Step 7: Twist the two braids at the nape into a bun to secure onto the head with French or bobby pins. Wrap the two smaller braids at the part around the head and secure into the braided bun.
