Marilyn Monroe had men fawning over her and hanging on to her every word. Were they mesmerized by her perfectly accentuated colored lips? To add bombshell to your resume, try out the newest beauty trend – a luscious crimson colored pout. From a soft cherry stained color to bold scarlet, red lips are all the rage. We have seen celebs sporting the trend on the red carpet, at events and in casual everyday wear. Some of the beauties that have been seen with this look are January Jones at the Golden Globes, Kim Kardashian and Piper Perabo.
Perhaps January Jones forgot to leave her “Mad Men” character on set – or she just loves the look so much. An increase in stars wearing red lips on camera can be due to the growing number of television shows focused on certain time periods; Angela from “Boardwalk Empire” is another example. And Jessica from “True Blood” looks as though she ate a bowl full of cherries; fitting since she is a vampire. Red lips are a great way to add drama to an otherwise natural look. They are also perfect if you are looking to take a daytime look into nighttime.
And don’t be scared if you have never tried red lips before; you can always start with a sheer lip shade. To tackle the red lips full on try NARS Lipstick in Jungle Red or M.A.C.’s latest Lipgloss in Wonder Woman. If you would like to start off slowly I would recommend Make Up For Ever’s Lab Shine Lip Gloss in S8, a Pearly Ruby Red.
And of course, who can forget Ms. Gwen Stefani’s L’Oreal commercial debut, eh? That was the Infallible Stars lipstick in Ravishing Red, people.
This trend in just in time for Valentine’s Day – ENJOY!!
