Spring is here! And what better way to appear bright-eyed and bushy-tailed than to embrace your natural, full brows. Models and celebrities such as Lily Collins and Camilla Belle have been sporting the full-brow look for a while, but now, it has become easier than ever to achieve and maintain. Along with our coverage of the revolutionary uGraft hair transplant procedure — allowing anyone to get fuller, bolder, longer lasting eyebrows to appear years younger — we had the chance to chat with Landy Dean, makeup artist and brow expert of the Marie Robinson Salon, to give you tips for achieving and maintaining perfect arches!
Makeup & Brow Expert Landy Dean
According to Dean, full brows are more popular than ever, but he feel it’s best to have a pro shape your brows first and give you personalized tips for maintenance. Also, tweezing typically gives the most natural effect — however, the technique used to remove the hair is secondary to the skill and esthetic of the artist shaping the eyebrows.

It’s best to begin maintaining your brows within a week of having then professionally shaped. This way you will be able to tell by the shortness of new hairs which ones to take. This may not be wise if you are growing them in. Dean advises at least 3-5 pro visits to get them full and strong before beginning home maintenance.
The question that everyone always asks — How full should my eyebrows be?
– A good thickness would be half the measure from top lip to bottom lid at the center point of your open eye. This will keep the eye area well balanced and defined.
– Growing in brows will take 2-3 months in most cases. Be patient and in the meantime sketch them in fuller with a pencil or powder a shade or two lighter than the hair to keep the dimension.
– Darkening the actual hairs with a tinted brow gel is a great way to thicken your brows if the hairs are there but need to be enhanced.
– Keep the peak or arch of the brow directly above the outer edge of the iris. This will keep the end of the brows longer and extend the eyes for a modern feel.
