We’re surely not the only ones crushing on Jennifer Lawrence! And during tonight’s 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards, we loved her short pixie cut and berry lips on the red carpet. But, we just can’t get over her ’70s-inspired look for her part in American Hustle (which she won the Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy award!).
If you can’t stop thinking about those funky curls and smoky eyes with super-sculpted cheekbones, see how our writer/makeup artist Nicole Iannitti created the same look you can wear everyday.
Wear a nude lipstick to change up the look!
If I was to be transported back to any era, I believe it would have been the 1970’s. It was the epitome of glamour with plunging necklines, sequins, spandex, long-flowing hair and dramatic makeup. Need I say more? I’m going to show you beauties how to wear the ‘70s hair and makeup look today. In 2014!

Crease Brush: Pinnacle Cosmetics Precision Crease Brush

Hairspray: L’Oréal Elnett Satin Hairspray
A smoothing brush
Hair ties
Bobby pins
A 3’4″ curling iron
Step 1: Create the crease using the soft, matte gray eyeshadow and crease brush.
Step 2: Also, while using the crease brush, tap the soft, shimmery gray on the lid.
Step 3: Apply the dark color on the outer V using the crease brush. Be sure to blend the eyeshadow so there are no harsh lines.
Step 4: Use the dark color and the eyeliner brush; line the lower lash line.
Step 5: Apply the black eyeliner on the inner rim of the lower lash line.
Step 6: Line the upper lash line with the Smolder eyeliner pencil; smudge it slightly with the eyeliner brush.
Step 7: Curl your lashes and be sure to load on your mascara!
Step 8: Apply your foundation.
Step 9: Use your blush brush to apply loose powder.
Step 10: Use your blush brush again and apply blush generously along your cheekbones.
Step 11: Since we are using a brighter color, it is imperative to get the lips right: Apply your lipstick following your natural lip shape. I then applied the gloss in the center of my lips to make them look juicier.
Makeup is done now on to the hair! The hair is actually quite simple:
Step 1: Curl all of your hair. I like to start from the nape of my neck and work my way up.
Step 2: Once all the hair is curled, spray your hair with the hairspray to lock in the curl.
Step 3: Teasing Time! Using your smoothing brush, tease your roots throughout your whole head.
Step 4: Pull your hair into a loose ponytail high on the top of your head, leaving the hair around your face loose. If you need to, you can use the smoothing brush to get rid of any bumps.
Step 5: Pin the curls around the hair tie. Finish with a little more spray and voilà! You are ready for the disco!
