After a season of pastels, I am ready for some rich tones. Welcome Aveda Autumn 2013 Limited Edition Makeup Collection: HeartLands. These rich shades mimic the look of just arriving indoors from a brisk fall day, which is captured with berry lips and warm, shimmery tones around the eyes.
Dusk Orchid

I recreated the look featured on the website: it was really easy and very flattering. I swept Petal Essence Single Color in Ginger Root on my eyelids, added some mascara but left the rest of my face bare except for a swipe of the Sweet Plum Nourish-Mint Smoothing Lip Color.
Bronze Patina

I didn’t know how I’d look because the look is so different from what I usually wear, but I really liked it! All the shades resemble the colors you would find in nature.
The Petal Essence Single Eye Colors ($14.00 each) all have a patina-like pearl finish; they wore all day and did not crease. Ginger Root is a warm copper, tawny shade; Dusk Orchid is a bruised eggplant; Viridian is a slate green; Antique Gold is a dirty, shimmery gold; Bronze Patina is a mossy green and Hyacinth is a light, satiny, lavender violet (not swatched).

The Petal Essence Eye Definers ($16.00) have a creamy formula that does not drag when applied. They are blendable but do not transfer; Juniper is a beautiful, rich green color (also available in Night Lily, a charred purple color).
Red Pastels & Plum Petals
The Nourish-Mint Lip Liners ($16.00) are so creamy you could color in your whole lip and wear as a lip color. Red Petals is a browner red, while Plum Petals is a violet plum.
The Nourishment Rehydrating Lip Glaze ($18.00) in Honey Tree is a natural nude gloss infused with plant emollients and clinically proven to moisturize, plump and smooth the look of fine lines.
Organic vanilla and mint give this gloss lickable flavor. Pomegranate oil nourishes lips, while peptide technology plumps up lips by an average of 13%. Also check out the shade Winterberry, a violet berry with iridescent sheen.
The Nourish-Mint Smoothing Lip Color ($16.00) is a soft formula that goes on easy and wears well. It is formulated with plant and fruit waxes to help smooth fine lines, hydrate and plump lips. I tried Sweet Plum, a wearable burgundy that doesn’t bleed or feather (also available in Redwood — a rich, warm, brick red).
