I was so excited to receive the Aveda Spring 2013 Color Collection: Art of Nature. In line with Aveda‘s brand image, the packaging is simple: a clear clamshell case houses a single pan of Petal Essence Single Eye Color ($14.00) eyeshadow in a cardboard package.
I was slightly disappointed — I am used to a compact, yet, I found the single pan awkward to use. Aveda does offer Total Face Envirometal Compact ($16.00-28.00), which keeps your color, and your environmentalism, close at hand.
Oceanica
Papyrus
Bare Bellis
Cinnamon Bark
Lemongrass
Lantana
The colors are clean and bright. The shades are wearable; there is something for all skintones. The shades definitely transported me to a spring day — you can almost smell the flowers.
Cana
Melochia Bloom
The Petal Essence Single Eye Colors are beautiful and provide a sheer wash of color. The lip colors range from a sheer peach, Sheer Mineral Lip Color ($16.00) in Melochia Bloom to the Smoothing Lip Color ($16.00) in a vibrant red, Cana. The Smoothing Lip Color wears well and feels comfortable. These lip colors deliver moisturize to lips while providing full color.
Kukui
The third lip color is the Rehydrating Lip Glaze ($18.00) in Kukui. The lip glaze surprised me! In the tube it looks very dark, however, upon application, the color translates into a wearable neutral. All have Nourish-Mint — a delightful vanilla-mint flavor.
Cocoa Bean
Barberry Bloom
Just as Aveda promises, the eyeshadows do not crease and lasts for hours. The Lip Liners ($16.00) did their job preventing feathering and helping the lipstick wear longer. Barberry Bloom and Cana make the perfect pair; Cocoa Bean blends well with Kukui.
Wild Indigo
Jade Vine
The Eye Definers ($16.00) are comfortable to apply and are creamy and blendable as promised; Wild Indigo is a rich navy blue and Jade Vine is a crisp, fresh green.
Petal Essence Face Accents ($24.00) in Hibiscus is a three-shade bronzer/highlighter/cheek color. There is a highlighter shade as well as two color shades to add warmth to any complexion. This collection is available while supplies last at Aveda salons and online at www.aveda.com.
