July 4th is one of my favorite holidays. It reminds me of all things American – our heritage, mom’s black cherry pie, BBQ’s and star spangled umbrellas. Feeling tan and healthy? Is white your perennial wardrobe for the summer? Well, let’s accent it with makeup themed for the “red, white and blue.” These products were chosen with the holiday in mind, but they’re great fun to wear all summer long.
First, try a blue or red nail color. Bright reds in the summer always look fresh and chic, but the must-have shade is navy blue. Sally Hansen’s Complete Salon Manicure has an array of shades. My favorite is Thinking of Blue. If you think it’s too dark, try one of the sea blue shades like Calypso Blue. The most classic neutral red great for this holiday and season is Right Side Red.

Yes patriotic colors are my inspiration, but a blue eye lid for example, is a bit 80’s. For this decade let’s wear something more flattering and pretty. Laura Geller’s Baked Marble Eye Shadow Duo in Blue Icing/Coffee is a vibrant multi-dimensional color with subtle nuances of blues and browns that look youthful on all eyes.

Navy eyeliner is less heavy than black eyeliners and makes the whites of your eyes look brighter…so line the top lid with Smashbox Cosmetics’ Indigo Ink Limitless Eye Liner – it goes on the eyes like silk, has its own inbuilt sharpener and it’s waterproof too.

For even brighter, larger eyes, line the inside of the lower lid, especially the corners with Revlon’s Pure White luxurious Color Kohl Eyeliner. This will be barely noticeable and will give your eyes a bit of a pop.
