This oil-free, moisturizer is a refreshing treat for the face. A light mint green gel holds the promise of coolness inside the small glass jar. Dip your fingers in and you can feel it instantly. Apply it to your face and the pleasant chill glides on smoothly. Its fresh, sweet scent soothes and, whether through the power of suggestion or not, manages to have a relaxing effect. In addition to being oil-free, it is noncomedogenic, gentle to skin, and allergy tested. L’oreal had a very similar product, years ago, which I was sad to see discontinued. Garnier’s version is just as great.
I have been testing this product during cooler, dryer weather, which could account for the extra cooling effect being felt. It does contain grape water extract and vitamin E, though, which should give the skin an extra boost of hydration. I suspect it will be just as cooling during the sweltering summer heat, which will no doubt rapidly deplete my supply.
Though it is touted as a gel-cream, it is decidedly more gel and less cream. The packaging claims to block out dryness and lock in moisture for 24 hours but, in my experience, it has not performed as a heavy duty moisturizer. For me, it is more of a light facial refreshment. Of course, testing during winter means it is being tried on some pretty dry skin. Mine is combination oily with stubborn dry spots. Perhaps the humidity of the New York City summer will aid it in helping the skin to retain moisture more aggressively. I’ll be eager to see it in action then, if I have any left!
