A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of attending a beauty breakfast hosted by QVC where I saw the latest and greatest of their enormous beauty inventory. I’ll admit, I’m not an avid tele shopper. My shopping habits need to focus on the highly tactile, so I end up spending more time at my local Sephora. But that breakfast made me give QVC more than a second look, and here’s why:
1) QVC’s beauty inventory is SOLID as Fort Knox. They have the latest and greatest from brands I completely love, from Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Naturally Luminous Neck Cream ($38) to my current obsession, the Josie Maran Matchmaker Argan Serum Foundation with Brush is only $43.78 (if you were to buy this set in stores, you would plunk down $78).
The Josie Maran Matchmaker Argan Serum Foundation is a must have
Other brands I was thrilled to see included GO SMiLE (I’ve been hooked to their ampoules for years) whose Teeth Whitening Device that uses Whitening Light to remove stain-fighting ingredients is priced at $169 but today’s featured price, for example, is $153. Case in point, if you were to buy it at Nordstrom, you’d pay$198.
2) The other reason why I was impressed with QVC is that they have exclusives that you absolutely need to have in your life. Take, for example Philosophy’s divine color illuminating powder with brush which is a satin-finish illuminating powder that gives your skin a complete healthy glow. I saw it for the first time at the QVC Beauty Breakfast and marveled at the loose powder (micro powder, I should saw) that gives your skin an air-brushed look and feel. QVC has the exclusive on this until March 2012, and it retails for $27.24.
3) There are brands that you may know and love but can’t easily find elsewhere. From bliss (whose Poetic Waxing At-Home Hair Removal Kit is a must in our books), to Dr. Denese (whose Wrinkle 76% Peptide Solution Concentrate has nine different peptide solutions for anti-aging), you’ll find so many unexpected surprises when you browse through the QVC virtual beauty aisle. These include Laura Geller, PaloVia and one of our faves, Kate Somerville as well.
4) There is a solid review system. The Customer Reviews tab underneath each product is Amazon.com in style, and gives you the opinions of customers who purchased this product. While it’s not the line in the sand, it may help you with your purchasing decision.
As for my latest obsessions, apart from the brands and products mentioned above, I’m loving my Mally Ginormous mascara (I practically wear it every day) and tarte’s 100% pure pressed Maracuja oil from the Amazon. It’s aromatherapy in a clear, violet-tinted bottle that has a classy yet eco-friendly looking stopper and black etchings of the Amazonian passion flower, making it look iconic on your vanity.
In a nutshell, these are all the reasons why you should definitely make QVC part of your beauty shopping routine. Are you a fan? Do you tele-shop late night? Tell us why or why not in the comments below.
